Why has the fun gone out of this site? There is no spark. There are a lot of threads started purely for self agrandissement or for the most crass reasons. Some of the old stalwarts have returned but quite frankly with the shallowest of intent, which is brusque and positively unfriendly.
What's going on??

oh tune please. i'm trying not to rant these days......
so you have a pm! ;-)

oh sod it. i've been here long enuf and read enuf of this places history to have an opinion, so best apologise to you all now ffs! and TE there's no PM after all.... :;-)
yep, i know. i know lotsa regs try very hard, and occasionally there's a glorious thread that drags the best of you back in, but they're fewer and further between. the one thing common to lots of you was a lack of ego, else you'd never post some of the random, off the wall, revealing, deeply personal stuff in the first place! the stuff that makes this place what it is! not gonna name names, cos i hope the entire site knows who the best of you are, and are saddened to see so many regs so obviously find it difficult to post here lately!
i know that being a regular poster can appear as though you just like the sound of your own voice, but I for one don't believe that in the main, and IMHO where would this site be without those who make the effort regardless!
more of that, less of the other, all be happy, job's a good 'in!

Tune. Dude. M8 Wassamatter. Chiil out. Have a  or three
Don't forget - it's each to their own. Let 'em come on and post for whatever reason. Whether it's for self agrandy stuff(?) or to be crass or to enjoy the 'crack of the place' as I now do.
You know who the good guys are. Talk to them and blank the rest. I always say to people "You know where my front door is. Whether you want to come in or whether you want to f**k off"
I've not been here long enough to know; but does the site, like life, not have it's ups and downs? People coming and going? Good people and bad people?

An interesting comment. I'd like to know more about this? Tell me more?

Why not just and read the old threads for information - or you can do a search (look up for the search button).
biggrin
The problem is twofold sometimes. Wanting to drag a few into a conversation instead of eveyone just looking and joining in is one. Another is finding that spark, that little jem that gets you a few IF ANY replies? What you think is a winner often dies a death! Sometimes you just feel unwanted and unliked because you DO post some daft stuff.
Topics of discussion will always be a funny thing because the first line belies the content. I have never really had anyone tell me to bugger off or that i talk real crap, but sometimes I feel that way, and sometimes i do try to inect some laughs with daft stuff, but it is my nature being a joker.
Some of the regulars will ALWAYS get a good response like Jags/Blue/misschief/mrsfc/mrfc/sarge and some of the others, but consider that some of the less fortunate will still try to get something going. Giving up is easy to do, and not always obviuous if you are not liked? Before ANYONE gets the wrong idea, I have NOT come on this thread to moan or gripe or whine, just to ponder the possible reasons? Define me a winner everytime and I would really love to be the one poster who everyone wants to reply to? In the end we all want to be popular and respected, and sometimes even the best must feel they have been kicked in the privates with no replies to what they think is to them interesting? To post or not to post then is the question...and is it interesting...?

Too many people passing wind; one spark and the whole place will go off like a bomb.
Bloody excellent post Judy...
Yes, I agree cool
If I log on and nothing tickles my fancy, it doesn't mean the site is going down hill! Tune, why don't you liven us all up and post some things you think are interesting instead of waiting for others to entertain you. This is a site for EVERYONE to join in with, don't just wait to be amused - amuse yourself lol
Agreement from me too - this place is definitely what you make it. And. like Blue. I choose which threads to post in - if they amuse me, then I'll contribute, if they are on a topic on which I have an opinion, I state it. If I don't see anything - I stay quiet (yes, I know I have changed wink ).
As for the lack of fun - I disagree - last weekend was a total blast with Ice's Masquerade Ball. OK, it wasn't a swinging theme - but this is the cafe - all subjects can be discussed and fun does not necessarily have to be sexually orientated. And a lot of regs took part in that.
Perhaps what has happened is that in the past there have been some very strong personalities which have dominated the site (that is not meant in a negative way - btw), so some other people may have found it difficult to break through or get attention. Perhaps this could be an opportunity for these people to get themselves noticed and make this appear a bigger community rather than appearing (I choose my words carefully) to be rather a small clique.
Anyway - it's Friday - biggrin and nearly weekend - let's relax and have some fun.
Big Hugs, Alex x x
I've been here a few months now, had a look around and I'm definitely staying because this place has something quite unique among bulletin boards I'm familiar with, and that is a very real community spirit. Sure it has its ups and downs, c'est la vie, but in general I find that most people who post here are very genuine, witty, and above all not stuck up their own behinds like so many people who want to run the world from behind the safety barrier called a keyboard.
Sometimes the discussions do get deep and serious, and even heated, but I don't see a lot of preaching, I see people expressing themselves sometimes quite forcefully, but always with respect for everyone else's opinion, and that's a rare and valuable thing I think.
I think the community, like its individual members, is susceptible to mood swings, but if anyone perceives a downward trend on that score, I hope they'll think about it and see it as just one of the occasional 'downs' before the next 'up'.
All's well as far as I can see, and I definitely don't think the spark has gone, it just takes a bit of a rest now and then. biggrin
Ice
Can I just say that I'm slightly gob-smacked! I sort of slammed the door when I left this thread (but then came back for another fix - I know I can't help it). I traced down the thread with some trepidation because when you've behaved a bit like a spoilt brat it's always difficult to face those who've observed it.
Instead, what I have found is that, in fact, I was wrong - the place is still populated with some great people, who've responded very constructively and, judging by some of the PMs, agree with the sentiment. (All the PMs will receive a response).
A couple of (well deserved ) smackbottom smackbottom which I shall heed.
So a big FANK YOU and a SORRY for the rant. End of topic - I shall invite a Mod to lock.
