I would like to say Thank You to "the powers that be" for following the thread regarding verification and ultimately scrapping the unpopular system.
I'm sure tensions were running as high in your camp as they were on here sad

Not sure what changed your minds though - maybe the thought of Neil's balls being buttered and fried with garlic perhaps made you think your's would be next?! :grin:

Thanks to everyone who participated in what was (apart from the occasional deep fried bollock) a well reasoned and grown up debate about a controvertial issue, but more importantly thanks to the people behind the scenes who have stayed true to their word and taken a hard, but well justified decision to drop the idea after seeing how the trial period went.
Planning, implementing, adminstering and (to a lesser extent!) defending the idea in the forum must have invovled a lot of hard work, by volunteers who (I'm sure) genuinely believed the idea was a good one that would be of benefit to SH.
Seeing all that work go to waste must have hurt a fair bit, so I'd like to say not only Thanks for doing all that work for us, but also Thanks for admitting to a graceful defeat, and backing down when it was clear that the majority of people didn't want the scheme.

Thankfully good sense has prevailed and Mark and Admin have scrapped the illconceived and badly implemented verification system.
This was a great debate which I followed throughout. I'm proud of those who contributed in favour of scrapping the system for standing up for the egalitarian principles on which SH was founded upon. Well done to you all!

Thanks to all those who sorted this out for us, on both sides. As was said earlier it never easy to back down, and I am sure the push behind the idea was good in its intent. Glad to be 'genuine' again smile

Also want to take the chance to apologise to anyone I inadvertently may have offended through the thread, tempers were short and people felt very personal on this issue. I think we managed to keep the debate at an adult level but still now it all over want to offer hand of friendship to anyone I pissed off...

Completely agree TnH. I know I was (for once) fairly vociferous - most unlike me when it comes to anything controversial. Stop laughing at the back!! I might be a gobby cow, but usually only when the outcome doesn't make a difference to people! lol

Glad to see it's been taken away once and for all, and most reassuring to know that our views were noted and mattered
