This Christmas/New Year I'm thinking of going on Tour, the length and breadth of the Realm, purely in the interest of researching laybyes and picnic areas you understand, so as to assess their potential as venues for nefarious activity, and of course in order to meet the masses and press a bit of flesh! :bounce: :bounce:
All nominations for the inclusion of your favourite spot in the Tour will be considered, but you'll need to get in early if you want to avoid disappointment.  :notes:
If you've already registered your sponsorship of a layby under the "Adopt a layby" scheme, I would of course appreciate a conducted tour of your favourite piece of turf. redface surprisedops:
Can I suggest you start sprucing up your patch now in preparation for this momentous event? And, er, don't forget to polish your name plaque whilst you're about it!
Ooooooooooh! This could be fun.............................!! lol

and on IM
We havent got a car so don't indulge in the layby joys of this world, but we have our very own patch of grass outside our house called a garden which your welcome to inspect biggrin Just ignore the nettles and youll be ok!! redface

OK, if marks are to be awarded, say marks out of 10 for each element, what are your test criteria?
Count me in.... if your tour covers the north west, I will show you a truckers layby that I'm sure will score very highly..... never played in a big truck and would like to cool 8-) 8-) 8-) .......
While we're on the subject of trucks.... we were in the said layby the other night. Three truckers were there beeded down for the night but they had all left their back doors open.... WHY? Do their goods need airing or is it a secret sign to creep inside the truck and get shagged?

The doors get left open blue hunni to show there's nothing worth nicking (saves getting the curtains slashed). Didn't stop me having my knickers nicked near thieving Maidstone though!! dunno
They leave the doors open so that the light-fingered members of society can see there is nowt to nick. As one said, when I asked the same question: "even if there's nothing in there some of the prats will cut the side covers on this to see what's in there"

Thanks for that...... good job you said, cos one day I might have taken it as an invite and climbed in redface surprisedops:
I could adopt a train station as well, though would that be considered greedy?

Blue, go with your instinct !!
I don't pull tautliners anymore, but when I did; I thought the rocking was caused by the win or passing traffic. How naive ?!?!
Eager, get a container and bulldog lock.
get thyself to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, just outside Whalley...Was walking a dog entirely innocently... wink ... when I happened to spot some cars....it's quite a family picnic area, but after dark I imagine it's a bit more fun...and I've never seen a police car there at all.
This thread is NOT an excuse to give specific locations. The normal site rules still apply!
There's quite a pleasant layby round the corner from my house, if you're interested??? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :evil2:

 lol
Seeing as you are travelling the realm of the country I would assume that you including scotland in your trip?
If so then there are plenty of layby's up in aberdeenshire I even got a little place outside aberdeen overlooking the cliffs.
What a view!!

And I've got 40 of 'em to check out (well, 39 after Sunday!!) so can't imagine what state I'll be in by the time I'm finished in January. I mean I do get around a bit but that's about 7 weeks which means, er, around 5 and a half a week
Um, can I get my truck into your deserted picnic spot when I visit Suffolk and Essex?
