have been to the docs today & have had blood taken to test to see if I'm starting in the change at 39  Been having periods every two weeks for the last six months then recently not had one now for six weeks  I personally feel six months pregnant as I am that bloated & feel very down.
so my question is..... has anyone else started their menopause at this age or having problems with their periods dunno
I'm sorry if this is not relevent to swinging- in fact it is for me as it affects our meets  in which really upsets me.
in edit soz guys if you think that this is a female thread but really it would be nice to hear from you guys as well if your partner is going through the menapause
Mine are totally crazy. I've had the pre-menopausal test and it was negative, but the doc said that it was just because of my age, 42.
Good luck kiss

I've had problems with my periods for 20 years and yes, it does affect meets. It is generally a right bastard!
It can really be a drag and at times, I really hate being a woman and I really hate having PCOS mad
I've not long had all my tests again and no menopause yet sad

Mrs. Amarcord has been pre-menopausal for the last, probably four years, having started at 40 or 41, and it's still going on - no period for months and then suddenly here it comes - double, tripple length, or sometimes just a day. At least the hot flushes seem to have stopped. Phew. lol
In nay case, her mum had a swift and simple menopause starting at 38 or 39.
All very normal, apparently.
I went through the menopause in my early 40's and yes it was a pain for a while but after that I felt a lot more free. No more worrying about unwanted pregnancies, no more planning around periods. The downsides are easily fixed with KY jelly wink Of course there are those horrible months/years to go through when periods are erratic and so forth but I didnt notice the hot flushes too much .. probably as I was suffering other health problems which masked them. Everyone is different and things don't necessarily follow family patterns as my mum and sister were much more in the "normal" menopausal time. Good luck with it and look forward to the freedom biggrin
I'm 47 and I've been going through it for about 4 years according to my doc evil
I've had erratic periods ( usually timed to perfection with meets  ) dreadful mood swings, incredible pain and got so bad recently I was off work for 6 weeks with menopausal depression sad
My doc is very reluctant to give me HRT so I'm taking St. John's Wort and Soy Isoflavone together with Vit B Complex. I've got meds for the very heavy periods and pain and I'm praying the depression doesn't return or I'll have to have mild anti depressants
Some women go through it and not even notice. Me? I'm waiting for the end of it all confused
Good luck hers. I hope you get through it ok kiss

as Mr Amarcord then, has the last four years affected you as well as Mrs Amarcord- if so how? emotionally & physically?
just interested to see a mans insight into this
Mrs Kiss started early on-set menopause at 33 due to having chemotherapy (it's sometimes a side effect).
Sadly due to the fact her cancer was so agressive she didn't have time to freeze any eggs. She deals with the hot flushes and irregular periods etc very well, it's the fact she will never have children that gets to her.
im in my 40s and i thought i was going through the menopause but my doc said i wasnt.......... he changed some of my medication and that worked well biggrin
Blo*dy hell.......
Glad I clicked this one.... lol
Poor buggers... I feel for all of you, oh and the girls your with..

Ladies, if you are a bit all over the show like this, it is worth getting yourself checked out, as if it is PCOS it not only causes infertiity problems, it also means you are also high risk for heart problems too.

You are also at risk of diabetes type 2 as well rolleyes
Hers, kiss I really do feel for you and apart from all the advice you have already been given by your doctor, I can only add that I found drinking loads and loads of water actually helped me. Not a clue why, but it certainly made me feel that bit easier.
I have had horrendous period problems as long as I can remember, everything from nothing for 6 months (didnt complain during that spell) to one every 2 weeks, and lately being treated for the anemia it was causing. I also had the mid monthly blues, with the boobs which felt like two watermelons stuck on my front and a belly which looked like I was 10 months pregnant.
Luckily for me, I have now got rid of the period problems (I had an hysterectomy 11 days ago, stiches out yesterday) but I still have my ovaires and this last day or so, I have been having the normal mid monthly problems ie sore boobs etc and have a yellow/purple swelly belly that makes me look 12 month pregnant (that is more due to the nice big cut accross the bottom of my belly) I know I will still have to go through the menopause at some stage and I am hoping (make that praying) it will be a smooth one for me.
I have been tenitivly(sp) diagnosed with PCOS but until my hormone levels have completly returned to normal(I had a baby 3 months ago) they can not complete all the tests sad so can not give me any treatment. im not even sure what the treatment may be but hoping they can sort it.

As far as I am aware, there is no treatment for PCOS confused
One of the best ways of finding out if you have PCOS is an internal scan to look at your ovaries. I see mine regularly, they are a right mess :lol2:
If you do want more information or details on a PCOS and a support website, drop me a pm
