Reminds me of a Jim Davidson sketch where he went back to his hotel room once to watch the 'mucky movies' and decided to have a fiddle. As his room mate walked in the channel changed to the adverts and Jim was caught ham fisted wanking over Nick Kamen sticking his jeans in a washing machine.... Jim had 'locked on' you see and couldn't stop ...... hehehe

I find this kind of documentaries quite annoying actually. They have nothing to say. Whether they mask themselves as the dark side or the blessing of being in the porn industry, they serve one purpose only: to get people glued to their screens to catch a glimpse of flesh. Pathetic really!

yes she was gorgeous and obviously enjoyed a great lifestyle (Porche Boxster etc), but I knew I would be feeling terribly sorry for her by the end. Her ideas of liberation and independence by becoming a porn star were terribly misguided and you could almost see the film producer 'baiting' her 'we're gonna spit on you', 'go in all holes' etc Her reluctant titters in reply almost brought me to tears.
Here was a beautiful woman with obviously long term emotional issues over her self esteem (she admitted being a self harmer), almost literally jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. I guess we all harbour fantasies about being a porn star, but as last night showed it generally comes down to money and the manipulation of men by women..even where the woman 'appears' to be a willing participant, invariably they aren't setting the agenda as Frankie discovered by the end of the programme. Really glad she dipped out and went into something she could control.

I agree with you entirely, but wonder if perhaps it goes a bit deeper than this. The programme was giving the overview of what actually happened to Frankie on her journey. The fact that she had previously self harmed etc suggests that she has done some thinking. At the end up, i saw her as being a woman who was much more able to accept who she was, and why.
An experience is an experience. Being able to take the "bad" experience and actually learn from it, allows our perception of the "bad" experience, to then become a good expereince because of what was learned as opposed to how you learned it.
She went into it with an open mind, and fortunatley for her, she remained open minded throughout the entire experience allowing her to reach the finishing conclusions without any regrets of any kind. It also brings in what the perception of "vulnerability" actually is. Who defines it etc?

you may well be right Little and yes, she certainly did come out of it ok and maybe her porn experiences were necessary to achieve this...but wow..it was a high risk strategy!! Yr also quite right about vulnerability, it's not my place to say she was or wasn't, but in the group sex scene, she didn't look happy..whilst coming back from the shoot in Derby she looked much happier..maybe because it was a situation she felt far more in control of??

Frankie is one of many (mature, blonde, good breasts), while Sahara is one of only 2 Asian porn stars in the UK, & can pick & choose her contracts. It was some time before Sahara ventured in to doing boy/girl shoots, & that was because she wanted to, whereas Frankie was immediately limited because she didn't like being bi, & refused to do anal. That's an important & hard lesson to learn for anyone who wants to get in to that line of work.

..I'd forgotten about Sahara, she may be busy because of the novelty value of an Asian porn star (is that more cynical exploitation??), but she still had her own deep seated issues and reasons for being there...the desire to 'shock' her family was very apparent..and I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in her parents living room last night...ooo-laa-la!!

:doh: I'd forgotten about that. Her life is hardly going to be trouble-free, despite the fact that she has more power in the market place (given the rarity of Asians in porn). The idea that she was finding a new family, by attending a porn industry party, is rather sad.
Looking forward to the remaining programmes in the season. Very interesting so far (& at times....... :P ).
