The funniest mis-conception you had when you joined?

We came into this out of the blue with no experience of any clubs or anything just a few programs we had seen on the TV and the little experience we had gained by pure chance. First thing that struck me upon entering SH was singles, that took some time to get our heads around lol

Hang on this is swinging isnt the idea that we swap? :lol2:
Funniest one though was thinking that if anyone invited us to thier house this was a 100% invite to play. I remember Mrs Tweeky accepted an invite to a couples house on MSN whilst I was out only for me to come back in and scare her half to death by convincing her this was no ordinary social invite but insted a invitation to a sexual venus fly trap. I recall saying specificly "these are swingers, you wouldent expect to go to a bbq and not have a burger would you?" We never went rolleyes

Did anyone else have any funny mis-conceptions when they first arrived?

Oh sweet memories rolleyes

I remember when the ex mrs Pete and me finally agreed that the lifestyle was something we would like to try, yeah you now the thing, OMG we would sooooo love a single Bi-fem to come play ………………………………..... blah blah
After perusing a few contact mags a thought suddenly struck me (please bear in mind this coincided with that particular period when the ‘popular’ press was quite insistent that at least two thirds of the female population of the UK was suddenly admitting to be gay / bi-sexual.)
“Iknow!” I suddenly announced (large glowing light bulb appearing above my head in a rare eureka moment) lets try the interweb thingy, it’ll be a doddle, we’ll be pumping and grinding in no time :shock:

Damned right we did tweeky lol

first time we joined we had never done any swinging before and didn't know what to expect. So waiting on the kids to go to bed and for a suitable hour (11:00pm) we sat down went into chat and turned on a cam.
F***ing h*ll it was a bird putting clothes pegs on her Oojamaflip Thingummybob Lady bits!!!!
Pi**ed ourselves laughing at our own embarassement and turned off for two days :lol:

Just coming up to my first year and remember sending my first batch of PM's to about 15 or so different women. Walked around all day with a semi on looking forward to reading all the replies in the evening from the horny women who couldn't wait to jump my bones........... rolleyes

I guess I had the same thoughts as many coming in here to a swinging site. I thought everyone was up for a lot of fun all the time.
To my amazement I found out that as a single non bi woman I am in exactly the same position as single guys. The marrieds are just not interested in you unless you want to play with the women.
So for me this site is no different than a dating site.
Most of men have exactly the same mental attitude here as on a 'singles' site. To be honest, there seems to be just as many married men wanting affairs behind their wives backs here, as in the so called 'single sites'
I have found the topics for discussion more varied and open and have learnt a lot about what I would term fringe sexual activity. Vanilla's would find a lot of what is talked of here as weird and frightening. For me I found it interesting even if not all of the things spoken about here interest or appeal to me. I've found out a lot more about myself here than I have about others, which surprised me.
So all in all a revelation biggrin

The biggest Mis-conception I had was that everyone was as they said they are.. as in honest and upfront about things!! yeah righty O :shock:
The other and possibly biggest was that joining a forum and sharing things would be all fun... and you would be sharing with sane non clicky reasonable people... I mean as if lol Jeeze what a world I come from believing such crap pmsl?? lol

Fast learning curve....
generally the people we have met have been fab though, better than we first expected thats for sure.. we thought they would all be sort of sex mad! Most are far worse thank God.

Good topic Tweeky!
My biggest misconception was that the lifestyle would be full of model types with prefect bods, but so refreshed to see it's full of every size, shape, colour, basically normal everyday people. wink

I was also really surprised to see and hear of so many cheating spouses, and people that are such bloody timewasters. rolleyes

See now I thought the opposite that everyone would be fat and bold lol. Funny the first guy that ever mailed for Mrs tweeky was allegedly 6,4 skinny with a big ginger mop. I can remember the wording of the first PM exactly, "can I help you" :lol2: well the patio was in need of attention but he never turned up biggrin

I thought that the first munch I went to all the people there would be dressed like YMCA video/relax (Frankie Goes to Hollywood)in leather, PVC, latex and would all be jumping on each other lol

Have to say that the munch was not as tame as the ones I have been to lately but on the whole it was like being at my local just with lots of friendly people - my best friend who knows I am on here still thinks its like I thought it was even though I tell her it isnt :lol: :lol:

Apologies, just doing a search and found this thread. Thought it made for some interesting reading.
I totally agree with this though... still baffles me the amount of folk that look at pics without reading the words!!
So, what were your preconceptions when you joined the site? Still have any, or have they all been disproved?
