...who ever lived.
For me, no-one can hold a candle to the late great Freddie Mercury. That man could hold a stage- oozing charisma from every pore.
Who would get your vote?
A not feeling particularly highbrow tonight Witchy. lol

Dunno about the "greatest" but I remember seeing Noddy Holder bring a bunch of wet and cold people to life at about ten thirty one morning....starting with the line ...." Looks like it`s gonna piss down...."

That is way beyond freaky- I'm watching the episode of Max & Paddy's road to knowhere- with Noddy Holder in it
I was fortunate enough to have seen Freddie and Noddy live. Both were brilliant frontmen, but if I had to pick just one, it would be Freddie. I was at Queen's last ever show at Knebworth in 1986. Not only did he have the voice, but he had the crowd of over 200,000 in the palm of his hand from the moment he walked on stage.

for me, i would have to agree, Freddie Mercury
There are a fewexceptional showmen aroundand I reckon a large proportion are from the British Isles too
Roger Daltrey
Bono
Mick Jagger
Ozzy
David Bowie
Freddie Mercury
To name a few.
I couldn't really distinguish a better between Jagger and Mercury - tough call
For me it would have to be Elvis....I'm not particularly a fan but as far as showmanship is concerned I think he's pretty hard to beat....
Sinatra
Elvis
Mercury
David Lee Roth
Michael Jackson
Angus Young
Kiss (not technically a person!)
so many....
Although 'showman' can mean a larger than life personality, or it can mean consumate professional who gives a consumate show.
Mercury was very very good, but I think he was helped by a fabulous band too.
I once saw Robert Plant as a guest star take a stage by storm...
Best ever that I have personally seen....
And I've seen many of the above inc Mercury, but it would have to be:
and you will KILL yourselves at this..
Barry Manilow
its got to be frostie
Well I saw Queen at Wembley in 86, and have to admit they were brill.
Freddie has to win my vote as he has to be one of the greatest showmen ever.
Still sorely missed and I love watching the old footage of Queen on the telly.
Is it really.....that many years he has been gone?
Yet another vote for Freddie here...
Not just the voice, not just the songs, but as previously said, he could hold every member of the stadium crowd in his hand.
He is still missed, but his music lives on.

With you on this one, Witchy.
The greatest showman for us would have to be Freddie aswell... Hubby has most of his videos/cd's. He also has quite a collection of signed pictures, picture discs, rare box collection. If I had to choose a second then it would have to be Robbie Williams.. think he is awesome and would love to see him live biggrin
Carl Cox, superstarfuckingeniusdj. Lets see freddie Murcury do a 6 hour set without a break or costume change wink

As fer showmen, did no one SEE Tom Jones at Glasto !?
Or do they have to be dead?
Nooo- dead or alive is fine smile
As for you Meaty- you're not even a great pretender :moon:
I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone who has the combination of unadulterated music genius, incredible stage presence, wit, charm, humour and ability to energise a crowd more so than the Cheeky Girls.

It wasn't meant to be highbrow. rolleyes
Trust you to raise the tone. evil
This is a bit bias in here so I will add a few of my own mix,
Tina Turner
Cher
kyle
To name a couple of female show women.
I have to say springstean live is so much more better than on disc
Robbie but not as long in the running
But I have to say to see Queen perform live left an everlasting memory. Fantasic

One tried to raise the level of discussion when one can my dearest.
Altogether...
"We are the cheeky girls, we are the cheeky girls, you are the cheeky boys, you are the cheeky boys,
we are the cheeky girls, we are the cheeky girls,
you are the cheeky boys, you are the cheeky boys..."
