Ok
Its been in the media quite alot lately with opposing political parties debating the issues and offering different soloutions to global warming and climate change.
so out of interest what do we all do to help/hinder the problem? are some fanatical recyclers? can they offer hints and tips to make it easier for those that havent started yet?
if you consider youself green - why, could you do more and if so why are'nt you?
if you think its a load of old crap (as in some of the recent documentaries) i would like to hear your views too!
Hi Mrs Swin
Not up enough on it to comment on climate change. Hmm on the subject of recycling, there is no excuse not to in my view. Not even space, if you use space to chuck it away then the same space is available to recycle it.
We compost everything we can, we re-use, recycle. Rarely throw anything away what can't be sold on eBay goes to charity shops, what can't even get to charity shops goes to freecycle sites. Our kids treehouse is made out of old bits of leftover wood, skip finds etc. I could go on....
I also feel reaaly guilty throwing stuff away if I'm not at home, in fact I often take my recyclables home with me (how impressive is that!)

.Energy saving light bulbs that cost more energy to make than conventional light bulbs that have stay on 24hrs a day to recoup the costs because they fail after 6 months of normal use!
.Covering your 'carbon footprint' by planting a tree that takes 100 years to replace your plane travel emissions!
.Co2 emissions from the planets oceans that exceed mankind's own emissions?
(I just can't be arsed to mention any more mind boggling stupidities)
Just a few of the things that make me feel the whole 'green' issue is one big con!
Every politician jumping on the green bandwagon by stating they wont charge mobile phones overnight... they will drive a smaller car... CRAP!!!
In the end it will be us at the end of the food chain paying with higher taxes!!!
I do a lot on this subject with my work and it is genuinely very scary.
What annoys me is that this has been spun into a right versus left argument with righties basically saying it's all a leftist conspiracy etc.
Can't these people see what is happening? Can't they see the crap in the atmosphere?
The penny will only really start to drop when the effects of climate change start to hit home. The effects of climate change won't be big special effect stuff like Hollywood would have you believe. The effects will grind society down.
Food will become more expensive because great swathes of the planet will not be able to sustain crops like they do now.
If righties grizzle about immigration and asylum seekers now, wait until millions (billions) of people start migrating across the planet to find somewhere to simply survive. Remember the term 'environmental refugees'folks. You are going to hear it a LOT in the future.
Power cuts? A thing of the past? We can expect them within the next 5 to 10 years.
More wars as people start to fight over resources? Yup.
Climate change isn't about giant tsunamis smashing into New York.
Whatever is said about the 'climate change' issue - please remember one thing - it is the SUN that powers our climate, not man. Things like sun spots, solar winds etc have far more influence than ANYTHING that we may do. Also it should be remembered that climate changes can and do take hundreds of years. For instance it will take 100 years to increase the average temperature of the oceans by half a degree! The whole thing is being made a political thing (the Climate Bandwagon) and often those that speak loudest on the subject have other agendas.
Please get all the facts before coming to your OWN conclusion
