The Names We Give

I realise this has been done before but thought I would ressurect the thought as we have so many new members.
I was sat in my shed today watching my local squirrel stuffing the monkey nuts that I left him and I started to ponder. You see this squirrel is called Henry, indeed there is also a Mrs Squirrel called Henriet so I pondered why have I given them names?
I also have a robin which frequents my garden called Elvis and a doormouse called Dorethy2 (the first one died)
My car is called Bob the lobster and my last car was called Frodo the Frog.
Why is it that I have this thing about giving them names? Now, obviously if it is a pet for example, that I can relate to as it would be responsive and is of course part of the family.
But many people have names for things, even inanimate objects. So, whilst I ponder away this naming thing that I have, I ask you all, what objects have you given names to and why?

Wish I could come up with an exciting answer- but I cant!
Just happened to be the first name I thought of starting with V.
A girl needs some "acliteration" dont ya know!!

At work i have a pen.....
It looks a bit like a peacock/emu crossis purple and its body is fluffy...1 of the supervisors wanted to call it Roy... but i put my foot down and said.... "No"....
So we called it Eric

I used to have a big black vibe and we called it paddy, because it was the nickname of a west indian guy we knew redface

The only things I have named are my bumps when i was pregnant .. no not those bumps rolleyes

My daughter was maggot and my son was bob ... absolutely no clue why and no we didnt use those names when they were born ... for which they are eternally grateful lol

All sorts of things...
My car is called The Tractor (it's a 4x4)
Used to call pillows 'rumpalillo', it was also an ex's pet name for me!
I was called Bumbly as a baby and everything to do with me was bumbly------. My family still calls kitchen roll Bumbly Roll !!!
