This is intended to inspire a contentious debate amongst consensual adults.
Should all things be legalised?
I think they should.
Because:
Things are freely available anyway
If freely available Things are illegal:
Criminals make huge profits taht could be going to the taxpayer.
Users get bad things that kill them.
Users steal to pay the inflated thing prices.
What do u lot of free thinking folk think?
This is against the site AUP I think Ben.
But if it isnt..then no I disagree.
xx
I suppose you could say that the Q is in the context of greater sexual arrousal - it is a VERY complex subject through :!:

No, drugs shouldn't be legalised.

I don't think you were in contravention of the AUP anyway - you weren't promoting the use of drugs; you were asking if they should be legalised - a perfectly valid and debatable question, certainly no worse than some others currently running.
Aww Freck uve spotted Im a bit sub hence if an Op shouts shit I jump on the nearest shovel.

I suspect users will still steal to fund their habit and I very much doubt that it will become cheaper as the govt will tax it to the hilt anyway.
Thx Lyn
The majority of users already steal or prostitute to fund. Under my scheme the prices would be way way cheaper so less stealing.
you are absolutely right. Legal things cause no damage whatsoever.
Alcohol is lovely and cheap the 'dealers' also sell food and other lovely things. The dealers are all up and down the high street and local villages and towns.
Alcohol doesn't damage the consumer, the families of the consumer, drain the health service, cause untold damage to the fabric of communities decimated by it's effects.
we can only follow this example and legalise it all.
but the way of life involving stealing/prostitution will be just as much of a part of their lives as the drugs so I don`t think leagalising it will make much difference to the majority of users!
I am tho talking of harder stuff than just recreational.
So, if we're legalising all 'things', what about:
dog-fighting
cock-fighting
speeding
Where will they fit into 'your scheme'? They are recreational for some people.

oooooooo cock-fighting? yes, lets.... will they be erect or just flaccid ?

I don't have any evidence to back this up but actually I'd have thought that if you got real statistics on drug users that most of them aren't stealing or prostituting themselves and that most of them are somehow holding down good jobs whilst managing their habit.
That is if you got a proper survey of people.....but I really don't agree with the sweeping statement that you have made above.
legalise recreational things?
is fell-walking currently illegal?
bugger....
not that I fell-walk or such... but always fancied the idea.
strangely enough, it appeals all the more now knowing that I'll be 'breaking the law' (said in a Judas Priest kinda way)
and of course, as for stamp collecting, does that count as recreational?
I'm a rebel me

Sorry to hijack!! but Splendid sometimes you make me remember why I like you and this was one of those times.
Actually I'm not hijacking  put as above it reminds me that this "legal" substance is responsible for ruining my ex mother in laws life, her husband and two of her sons are/have been seriously affected and sadly my son also sad unless he is able to turn it around.

of course.... there is a lot of criminal activity surrounding the users of some recreational things... however, there are those who manage thier use very well.
I have known, and know of several users of class 1 recreational aditives who have lived a fully inclusive and contributive lifestyle... statistics recorded for the purposes of law etc obviously will not include these managers of thier recreational habits.
They are nice and good people. Just happen to be on the wrong side of the law.
I for one happened to make a choice of legal recreational activity.
To indulge in such harmless and social activity... I stole, lied, cheated and decieved. And I was a good boy!
Who's round?

OJ... you can still pretend the diet is working...

as for Amy Whinehouse... she isn't the guy in middle management, been there for years... or the chap in the British Library, very happy thankyou...
or indeed, the content couple coping very well with life, and raising their teenagers safely in a clean and responcable attitude.
but perlease don't get me wrong... I'm not condoning the use of certain recreational wassnames... I'd rather they were not there at all... and the need was absent... but please, I don't think we should all be tarring/brushing etc...
