Ah, the classic advert where the little kid was bribed to climb up to the flats! I loved that one!
Kit just came home and saw 54 users currently on line - her comment:
"Hm, not very busy tonight"

I thought I was the only person that liked those - literally everybody else I know dismisses them on grounds of colour, smell AND taste !

That has just brought back a memory. As a little girl I remember my friend brought me back a gift from her holiday. It was a little bottle of perfume with a pixie on the top. The perfume smelled just like parma violets tasted....... if you know what I mean!!! confused
(Wilma wanders out thinking, why is it that you can smell the taste of something or taste the smell of something? ) :? :? :? :?

Who remembers....
Aztec bars.
Cadbury's Extra.
Media interviews with well-known people when they DIDN'T have a new book, film, or series to plug.
When supermarket goods all had price labels stuck on.
The days when cyclists used the roads.
The days when radio and TV presenters weren't all trying to be comedians.
Mike.

Hey, mr FC, Lucky Bags!! I remember them when they had the picture of Baden Powell-at least I think it was him-on the bag. But why did I always get the 'unlucky' bag with the broken toy and crap sweets.
I also remember buying loose salted peanuts from Woolworths when they first came out. My Gran used to say I'd get constipated (which , Lord bless her, she also thought was caused by too much bread, sitting on a cold wall, eating sweets and failing to drink a bottle of Mackeson every day).
My favourite was the 'sweet tobacco'-just dessicated coconut really. Got put off it a bit when I tried smoking it in the little pipes we used to make from hollowed out acorns and a piece of wheat straw...
Silly little orange armbands so the traffic could spot you running after the mobile shop to buy a luckybag.. Actually they were supposed to stop you getting squashed walking to school when someone decided not to move the clocks back 1 hour from BST to GMT in the name of european harmony IIRC

What about the Mivvi (at least I think that was how it was spelled) soft ice cream inside and strawberry ice outside........... When will Walls start a night round I wonder.....(accidental alliteration alas)
What about when biscuits used to be bought loose by the pound from 1 cubic foot tins...
those were the days
Bury market was the best place in the world ( before it burned down in 71)
so much choice

Did anyone have an aunty who offered you a biscuit with your cuppa as a young thing, AND OFFERED YOU A WEETABIX!!!!!!!!!! blink I ate politely as not to offend. (can i have more milk in my tea auntie?)
Yes I remember Rasberry jelly lollies and the coconut tobacco!
Milk tray chocolate bars, each piece was a different centre.
sherbert fountains
Mrs FC only thing we ever had to eat as snack when my parents were students and I was growing up was Weetabix with margarine. I thought that was normal lol.
My kids will never know magas I used to read Mandy then Judy (cutting out clothes to fit on Judy). By 12 I had moved on Sound though to get posters of Bowie and Roxy music oh such memories .........
Cough Candies.... found many of them stuck to the pocket of my coat covered in the white paper bag.
Rainbow drops....... bags of coloured puffed rice.
I also remember the rag and bone man and his horse...... he used to call up the street "any, any, any ole iron"
Another frequent visitor to our door was the man from the Pru. Still have not got the courage to ask my mum why he visited so frequently.
This thread has taken me right back..and I'm not THAT old.

Alf Tupper - The tough of the track. He used to stay up all night welding, have fish and chips for breakfast (shared with his dog) then go and win an international cross-country race, despite some Baddy causing him to make a five mile detour. smile :)
Billy the Cat. Used to wear a black crash helmet and wave what looked like an electrical cable, complete with plug, around his head.
OOH OOH!!! The Sparky comic, whizzer and chips, Beezer,Topper...... billy Whiz, Minnie the Minx... Clue can anybody (over 30's) The lad in comics who had a control on his arm and he controlled a small army of soldiers? confused

A womans contraryness?
They are still around - but I have never lost my taste for Farleys Rusks. I am sooo looking forward to grandchildren so I can buy them again!
The War Lords....anyone else remember this or am I having a senior moment.
Not this time Wilma, it was the War Lords. My favourite story was the one about the bloke who had an amulate which gave him eternal life. It didn't save him from harm physical harm though, just kept him alive. (origins of "death becomes you?)

Don't tell anyone but I used to love reading my sister's Bunty comic every week! redface surprisedops:
