Yep!! *feeling loads better*
:P :P :P
Thanks Mischief, I needed someone to sound off to!! xx
How’s about these guys
Too many to list!!!
Celebrity cooks (Jamie fucking Oliver - need i say more) mad
Back to reality - as if it wasnt bad enuf seeing these tweebs the first time around :x
The fact that the five days of the week you work go soooooooooo slowly but when the weekend hits you blink and you miss it! :x
Going to the gym and everyone is queueing for the machines i want because the people who set up everyones programs have set everyone up for the same machines - duh!!!! :x
Boy Bands :x
Girl Bands :x (althougth with these you can sometimes turn the sound off and enjoy their vids!!! depending on who they are......... ie not atomic kitten, 3 rough birds from liverpool just dont do it for me im afraid!!!)
Bland pop crap
The way that when we do get a decent band they are over played to the pont where you want to strangle them (did i hear someone cry darkness! biggrin )
Gav!
I thought you said decent band......then you mentioned Darkness...Oh dear. Listen I run a help group every Wednesday evening between 7-9 where you can talk freely amongst friends about your problems....we will not mock or punish you, please come along, be amongst others like yourself who understand...... lol
Jaine
The Darkness?
There needs to be a new word to describe the psychosis that I have to fend off when I see a Darkness t-shirt.
Not only are they a bunch of abject plagiarists with not a single new idea amongst them, but even more troubling is that they are the 'face' of British rock at the moment, god help us.
And having met them, I can say from personal experience that they're a right bunch of up-their-own-exhaust-pipe eejits.
Takes a deep breath and calms down...
Nurse? Sedative please...
Roadknight.....Hold on I am coming to calm you down...bend over & stay very still, you may feel a little prick...
LMFAO @ myself lol
** and the fact they beat Radiohead to best british band....they deserve to die just for that fact alone without inflicting pain on my ears & eyes..by god he is one ugly mutha...**
Please tell me you are kidding!!!!
Radiohead died back in 1997, they have been trying to hard to do things innovative ever since as this is the tagline that everyone gave them............. they havnt had anything decent out since karma police!!!!
Cant believe they actually have any fans left!!!!
Your in a minority!!!! biggrin
I know the darkness arnt exactly original but they have good music even if it is rehashed and stolen completely from when rock music was good, but at least the little peeps are getting some rock music instead of growing up thinking pop idol contestants are the height of modern music! surprised
We shall continue this in private mad
hahahaha anger i love it also something that is lost on todays youth!!!!
smile
Another thing that annoys me actually, no one has anything they care about to point of where they would fight for it to be changed anymore.
The closet we have come is the petrol strikes of a few years ago and the uni tuition fees being hiked but all they did was protest and give up after a few days!!!!
The petrol one especially gets me they stop the protests by putting petrol prices down for about 2 weekes then they raised them and no one even noticed!!!!!
i mean come on!!!!
I was brought up on tales of how people fought to stop wars (properly not like the "protests" over iraq!!)
How people were told they couldnt listen to rock music as it was the devils music and people faught against it and made them rethink the whole thing
Nowadays everyone is so obsessed with trying to keep every single person happy that they end up pissing them off but we dont say anything because we have lost our anger!!!! :)
(see i did have a pint with this continuous rambling!!!!!) :)
What are you doing bringing Pop Idol into the conversation? We were talking about music.
Calm down, Moist. An emergency supply of Cocteau Twins, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and Flaming Lips is on its way. Just try to hold on until it arrives.
Resisted so far..but, just got to say...
BONFIRES!! (or rather the pyromaniacs that light them).
On the rare occasions when the old Artificer has time off, he looks forward to sitting quietly in his garden, breathing the pure Shropshire air and contemplating his station in the world. This invariably triggers the lighting of some humungus bonfire, usually of smelly ,wet, green and unburnable material, mixed up with some nice toxic waste.
Having a barbecue in the garden is guaranteed to bring these frustrated charcoal -burners from under their stones. Tell me friends, why on God's earth would anyone wish to burn grass cuttings? Is my washing, billowing in the fair Spring breeze, totally invisible? And are these people dumb enough to never have learned that the wind blows from different directions? But biggest blood pressure accelerant is their habit of lighting their grunge heaps just as I am retiring to my pit. I like my windows open, so the birds can wake me up with the dawn (Hi Dawn, how's the Munch looking?). Instead, I wake up about 2 am coughing my guts up and reaching for my 'steelies' in readiness for kicking someone to within an inch of their life. Now, those that know me, know what a gentle, retiring soul I am. I'm afraid the habits of these burnoholics turns me into a raging monster. Strange thing is, they then potter off in their cars and buy expensive compost from the garden centre, when they've burned all the stuff they could have made their own with. Is it me? And don't forget, I'm pretty rural here, I'm sure they experiment to find ways to make their toxic emissions travel further each year. Of course, we all need a bonfire from time to time, but round here at least, it's as if the Spanish Armada was heading up the channel every weekend. Either that or we're getting through a hell of a lot of kings and queens.
Sorry folks, got it off my chest now, reverting to nice old Arti mode.....

No actually I shall continue here where it started
Since 1997 they have won
Best band in the world 2001/2002/2003 for Q mag over the likes of Chillis. Foos, Coldplay & Blur - not bad for someone who has not done anything decent
Also 2 sold out nights at Earls Court last year
5 nominations at NME awards of which 2 were won
Best band in the world 2003 - Rolling Stone mag
Grammys for Amnesiac & Hail to the Thief
Minority - I think not
Jaine
I like Radiohead and The Darkness....what does that make me??
There is no way that they should have won those awards over the foos, coldplay and DEFINATELY NOT the red hot chilli peppers!!!!
They are not even anywhere near any of those bands leagues!!!! smile
as for amnesiac and hail to the thief, they are two of the worst songs i have ever heard in my life and trust me I have heard a lot of bad songs growing up with the parents i had and their taste in music!!!! biggrin
ok so your not a minority, it turns out there are quite a few people who have lost their taste in music over the years (im gunna get slapped aint i!!!!)
Truce!!!!!!
I apologise to anyone concerned for my rant...that will be the last of it in the forum as not really the right place, but it is a subject very close to my heart so had to fight my corner however any further challlenges shall be via PM.
Jaine
well i enjoyed it nothing like a good debate on a Saturday morning biggrin

I suggest my friend reads this...

Sorry, just trying to say totally agree with jaxxx on that
Morning Mr FC,
I take your point about people being more apathetic than they were, but would suggest that there is a little more going on below the surface. I think that many have realised that open confrontation , while great to be part of, tends to have a limited effect. Things blow over. I feel that 'lobbying' is the new battle tactic, because that is where the real results are obtained. just look at how many organisations, formerly publicly militant, rely heavily upon high level influencing campaigns to get what they want. just read Machiavelli to see how it's always been the same.
Having said that, out here in the sticks, the pro-hunting fraternity are putting up one hell of a fight, as didi the farmers when fuel prices rose a while back. So, I agree, it can work, but the real battles are fought in darkened corridors.
How amusing that my post turned right around & bit me in the ass..... lol
Jaine
Yes but Politicians, hypocrasy and backstabbing, not to mention you rub my back all seem to go hand in hand.

Jaine

Mine do that to me all the time! lol
But apart from hypocrasy which I loathe (and yes - politicians seem to have that in their job description).......
1. People who do 25mph in a 30 limit.
2. People who are actually doing the speed limit jamming the anchors on when they see a speed camera.
3. SPEED CAMERAS which are placed purely to gain revenue and not to add safety to a road. ie we have 3 schools locally which NEED speed cameras outside them - but where are the cameras - out of town on country roads where there are virtually no houses and where there have been no major incidents since I've lived up here (over 10 years).
4. Boy racers who THINK they are the dogs b****cks because the have a car with a boot 'ruiner', blacked out windows, faulty exhaust (sounds faulty to me anyway) and blasting an incomprehensible racket from the speakers which take up 95% of the interior of the car.
5 The waste and corruption in the European Parliament - especially the has-been MPs who use it as a gravy train (have you seen how much they make on expenses?)
6. Reporters who waste their time sensationalising things which are not illegal but making them out to be such terrible things, so causing so much airtime on TV and Radio to be wasted when they could more usefully spend their time investigationg real problems and injustices!
7. Readers who crave the reports by the reporters in 6 and so keep them in a job!
I could go on......... and on...... and on.....
but I'd just get myself niggled.........
Hugs, Alex x x x

Whoops..I have tinted windows, loud exhaust & a loud stereo & go on cruises at Southend etc...
Does that make me a girl racer at 36 yrs old??
Spose it does...sorry Alex wink

The entrenched practice of Radio Station Playlisting
Whether it's an Xfm, Virgin or whatever - the same f*****g songs go round and round all day - a few days of listening to a station and you've heard all they're gonna play for the next 4 months!
Lazy, conservative and unimaginative.
Manalive agreed! Also you can tell when an old record is taken out of the archives for a day - it's then played to death on every BBS music channel for a week or so.
Moist - hugs!!!!!!!! I meant those stupidly oversized speakers which just pump out boom-boom-boom. That racket combined with a noisy exhaust is horrendous when heard on a peaceful summers day in the country! No offence Jaine (really, honestly, hugs) but what is the actual point of a noisy exhaust (apart from noise pollution)? Just curiousity on my part here.
Can you tell that this is one of my pet hates?? lol
Anyway - big hugs Jaine.

I've avoided this like the plague for the last couple of days because I've felt so grumpy, but here goes.
1) People who try to win arguments by shouting loudest - no reasoning, just an increase in volume.
2) People who ask questions when the answer is readily available - if you can't be bothered to research your Q yourself, why should I do it for you?
3) Irresponsible reporting - not just about dogging etc. but the increasing need of the papers to check facts then print, rather than vice versa, which appears to be the current practice in so many cases.
4) Work
5) My mobile telephone - for the reason above
Can you tell I don't have a car smile

Hey honey, no offence taken..was just being honest. Anyway to answer your questions...
the exhust the manufacturer puts on in the factory is like a lot of other things you buy - ok but not the best - i.e. scart leads that come with dvd's etc they are crap & should be thrown away with the box...car parts are the same, a cheap good effort but not always the best for performance, sound mpg etc..
hence I have changed suspension set up, wheels, exhaust & soon air filter. Just makes the car more responsive, handle better & a power increase.
I must quickly say though that some boys ( wearing burberry baseball caps in a nova GTE) will put on any old pipe to make it as loud as possible then get a stereo that they can hear over the racket....
