Yep!! *feeling loads better*
:P :P :P
Thanks Mischief, I needed someone to sound off to!! xx
The Darkness?
There needs to be a new word to describe the psychosis that I have to fend off when I see a Darkness t-shirt.
Not only are they a bunch of abject plagiarists with not a single new idea amongst them, but even more troubling is that they are the 'face' of British rock at the moment, god help us.
And having met them, I can say from personal experience that they're a right bunch of up-their-own-exhaust-pipe eejits.
Takes a deep breath and calms down...
Nurse? Sedative please...
What are you doing bringing Pop Idol into the conversation? We were talking about music.
Calm down, Moist. An emergency supply of Cocteau Twins, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and Flaming Lips is on its way. Just try to hold on until it arrives.
Resisted so far..but, just got to say...
BONFIRES!! (or rather the pyromaniacs that light them).
On the rare occasions when the old Artificer has time off, he looks forward to sitting quietly in his garden, breathing the pure Shropshire air and contemplating his station in the world. This invariably triggers the lighting of some humungus bonfire, usually of smelly ,wet, green and unburnable material, mixed up with some nice toxic waste.
Having a barbecue in the garden is guaranteed to bring these frustrated charcoal -burners from under their stones. Tell me friends, why on God's earth would anyone wish to burn grass cuttings? Is my washing, billowing in the fair Spring breeze, totally invisible? And are these people dumb enough to never have learned that the wind blows from different directions? But biggest blood pressure accelerant is their habit of lighting their grunge heaps just as I am retiring to my pit. I like my windows open, so the birds can wake me up with the dawn (Hi Dawn, how's the Munch looking?). Instead, I wake up about 2 am coughing my guts up and reaching for my 'steelies' in readiness for kicking someone to within an inch of their life. Now, those that know me, know what a gentle, retiring soul I am. I'm afraid the habits of these burnoholics turns me into a raging monster. Strange thing is, they then potter off in their cars and buy expensive compost from the garden centre, when they've burned all the stuff they could have made their own with. Is it me? And don't forget, I'm pretty rural here, I'm sure they experiment to find ways to make their toxic emissions travel further each year. Of course, we all need a bonfire from time to time, but round here at least, it's as if the Spanish Armada was heading up the channel every weekend. Either that or we're getting through a hell of a lot of kings and queens.
Sorry folks, got it off my chest now, reverting to nice old Arti mode.....
I like Radiohead and The Darkness....what does that make me??
I apologise to anyone concerned for my rant...that will be the last of it in the forum as not really the right place, but it is a subject very close to my heart so had to fight my corner however any further challlenges shall be via PM.
Jaine
I suggest my friend reads this...
jaine
Sorry, just trying to say totally agree with jaxxx on that
Morning Mr FC,
I take your point about people being more apathetic than they were, but would suggest that there is a little more going on below the surface. I think that many have realised that open confrontation , while great to be part of, tends to have a limited effect. Things blow over. I feel that 'lobbying' is the new battle tactic, because that is where the real results are obtained. just look at how many organisations, formerly publicly militant, rely heavily upon high level influencing campaigns to get what they want. just read Machiavelli to see how it's always been the same.
Having said that, out here in the sticks, the pro-hunting fraternity are putting up one hell of a fight, as didi the farmers when fuel prices rose a while back. So, I agree, it can work, but the real battles are fought in darkened corridors.
Yes but Politicians, hypocrasy and backstabbing, not to mention you rub my back all seem to go hand in hand.
The entrenched practice of Radio Station Playlisting
Whether it's an Xfm, Virgin or whatever - the same f*****g songs go round and round all day - a few days of listening to a station and you've heard all they're gonna play for the next 4 months!
Lazy, conservative and unimaginative.
Manalive agreed! Also you can tell when an old record is taken out of the archives for a day - it's then played to death on every BBS music channel for a week or so.
Moist - hugs!!!!!!!! I meant those stupidly oversized speakers which just pump out boom-boom-boom. That racket combined with a noisy exhaust is horrendous when heard on a peaceful summers day in the country! No offence Jaine (really, honestly, hugs) but what is the actual point of a noisy exhaust (apart from noise pollution)? Just curiousity on my part here.
Can you tell that this is one of my pet hates?? lol
Anyway - big hugs Jaine.
