I love my parents. Sometimes it wasn't easy with my Dad he was/is very Victorian never kissing, hugging or saying he loved us, strict and stern he was but he was fair non-violent supportive and encouraging. My Mom is still my Mom she is just so lovely and loving and the older I get the more I see her in how I am I hope.
We were fed clothed and sheltered we had more than some and less than others. We had sausage while others had steak but we thrived and enjoyed for the most our childhood within the home(outside the home and in school was not the same though :-() For those that did have it bad at home I just wish I could share the safety and love of the childhood I had. With my children I try to do the same as my parents did with us keeping us safe and secure and healthy. As a father I try to be more like my mother in showing and telling my children how I care.
If at the end of my life when the curtains finally close as the box moves forward, my kids are there saying to their kids "i'm going to miss my Dad" and then go on to remember an odd time or two every now and then I know then I have made a difference and i'm satisfied
