I've made a decision to be more experimental with my drinking this year, though of course in moderation mostly. What i'm after is cool ideas for cocktails. I know I could just google them and get a plet hora of info but I thought maybe if a few from here gave the odd recipe then that would be nice to have a more personal perspective.
If I were to advise me of a decent cocktail this year it would have to be (because its going to be a scorcher of a year)a Pimms.
In a large highball type glass: 2 shots of Pimms, but rather than lemonade use chilled ginger ale. Add big slice of orange apple cucumber Squeeze of lemon and a couple of bruised mint leaves. Do not bugger it up by using Ice, it takes up too much room and reduces the ability to quaff the drink.
Come on line em up people its a free bar!
Moscow Mule...2-3 oz vodka,juice of 1/2 lime,twist of lime peel,ginger ale,cucumber peel
Negroni...2oz dry gin,1oz sweet italian vermouth,1oz campari,slice of orange
Cuba libre...2oz cuban club white rum (never ever ever use bacardi in anything)1 lime,Coke
(needs explaining this) squeeze the lime into a collins glass (tumbler)put lime shells in glass pound with bar spoon (the wrong end of a wooden spoon is what I use)fill glass with ice add rum top up with coke.
Hemingway/death in the afternoon... 1 1/2 oz absinthe, chilled champagne.....a couple of these will flatten anyone
I'd highly recommend Michael Jackson's Bar and Cocktail book, and no drinker should be without The Savoy Cocktail Book
Murphys with a port in it
try a sloegasm
shot of sloe gin in a champagne flute topped up with champagne.
