Time wasters Fakes and False profiles

Unfortunately they are on here in abundance 

Last night - after messaging on here back and forward - and by text message - and exchanging face pics - I arranged to meet a couple in Edinburgh - I turned up at arranged place outside a pub - and no show - time wasters yes ( I can't name them or I will be banned I am sure ) 

I see they have 2 profiles on here - a few weeks apart  - using the same pictures ?!!!

 In respect of the two profiles, whilst there is no problem with members having more than one profile it's only ok if it's not for deceitful purposes, if you care enough and would like to send me an email with the two profiles in question i'll be happy to take a look for you.

As for time-wasters, sadly it's par for the course online, it certainly isn't specific to here. My own opinion on naming and shaming is it doesn't work, it just serves to further entrench peoples position causing both uncertainty and distrust in both the site and individuals alike. Whose to say you turned up at the pub and were absolutely nothing like you described and so the couple decided to leave you be?  I'm not saying that is the case but hopefully you take my point.

The best advice I can give and it comes from experience is that if your time really has been wasted then get your head down (no not now I haven't had a shower yet) give the missing couple an amount of time to explain themselves ( I wouldn't message them)  and if nothing heard then wipe them from your mind, place their account on block and move on the very many other pastures that can be found on the site and most importantly don't let the wasted experience put you off cos if you do, then those that seek to waste others time really have won and that would be tragic.

i wish we could name and shame, lol, i know the site rules dont allow it but some kind of system where people can flag the fake ones would be good, in my opinion i believe it would restore some faith with many people becoming disenchanted with the fakes that spoil it for the rest

many people are beginning to have no faith which might explain why member numbers are falling in the chat rooms, ..... just my opinion

 You wouldn't have thought that was too difficult in this day and age. We think it is ridiculous that you can only leave positive verifications. Some kind of red cross negative feedback option is what we have always advocated. If half as much time was spent on this than fucking painful 'matching' those who want to actually meet would be far better off!

The fake profiles are not new, and SH is not alone in being targeted:

The Mod team have a number of tools available to help weed these profiles out, and we do so proactively. You wouldn't believe how many fakes never see the light of day, but some do get through so we always appreciate it when someone reports them to us. :thumbup:

Fakes are a problem on this and every other site out there, Fair play to the admins as with out what they do behind the scenes there would be even more! Ive not lost faith though real folk are out there, ive just honed my skills in fraud spotting over the years

Yeh lots of dreamers losers and fakes on here .....but thats life .........shame coz their are a few genuine types on here ....just need to be careful and stay local and not waste time /energy .....x

We had to take loads of our pictures down because at one point they were stolen and and added to so many profiles that I began to wonder if they were ours at all!

Not sure if they were real profiles but if they were, their photos were fake! 

Yep, we've been stood up too - only because single guys though (3 times in one week).

i have been stood up twice this week by the same couple they text and phone me make a day and time never show

I tend to look at those that have viewed my profile and there are those who have been on for years and there is nothing on their profile not even a photo, I tend to block these people, they are hardly investing themselves in the site

Yes - similar experiences.  False profiles?  Well, I sometimes get the impression that about 50% of the "Profiles" and "people" are false/fictitious

But it's not only men who create fake profiles. Long time ago when I was a newbie, I got chatting (on another website which I won't mention) to a very interesting, clever and sexy woman. I was feeling very proud of myself thinking how clever/sexy/hot I am that I have managed to get this woman interested in me etc. 

Long story short we went off site to talk in real life on the phone, soon after that I start getting messages from a very religious point of view saying I should be ashamed of what I was doing, it's a sin, I should repent, yada yada. At first I thought haha that's funny it's a joke... but then the messages started getting weirder and weirder. Then I realised by the time that we talked in real life I had revealed a bit too much about myself which she was using. It freaked me out. I noticed some other guy mentioning something similar happening to him so probably a few more too. 

Anyway, it was early days then, much older and wiser now. Also I agree with the general consensus, there will always be fake profiles here and on every other website we can think of. My premise is that out of every 10 only 2 will be real... maybe pessimistic but hey, once bitten, etc.

I've been on this site for years and years and... Oh god I'm getting old - I have had a lot of fun swinging and after the first year I hardly ever get let down. You get to notice the fakes and time wasters. I have to say it is the young female profiles that are the worst now and often lead to somebody trying to sell something. I always report things to mods if I think rules are being broken. They are in the best place to deal with it and I can't be arsed to waste my time with arguements with idiots.
