I can see what you say... but personally we would not have a problem as a couple with 5 stars contacting a couple with no stars. We would just know that nobody has verified them as genuine yet and would therefore use a little more caution. If they had at least one star then we would know somebody has met them. If they had 5 then we would be happy in the knowledge that they were reasonable genuine "in the eyes of other people".
Think of it from the other side as well. New couples would see that a couple had 5 stars and may think "Wow - they are experienced" and steer clear of them - or even think "Wow - they are experienced - perhaps they can help us." There will always be pros and cons - just thought it might be a middle of the road soution. You can please some of the people.........blah blah!

As for the L plates - where the bloody hell would you stick them? biggrin

Although I have only been a member for a short time, I have been looking at the site for a while now. I met someone from the chat room, but it took quuite a while before we were able to trust each other to actually meet. I didn't have any photos to send and he was very sceptical that I was who I said I was. I was in the same boat! Eventually I sent him my number and he called me. We arranged to meet and got on very well and are planning a threesome with his wife. That first meeting was just chatting in a public place where either one of us could leave without any problems. You really need to have a gut feeling that it is right and it is difficult to quantify what that gut feeling is. I like Freds idea of the grading - anonymous to a point, but gives a little reassurance to move forward. Ultimately, the most safety conscious would require pics, phone numbers, personal references, blood tests, family tree, credit checks and a letter from their mum! If we can't get all that, at least some may help to reassure before the initial meet.
Right. Enough of the soapbox - back to checking out everyone else's comments !! smile

PS. I may soon have my photos, c/o a member maybe offering to take them for me - they know who they are!!

The obvious problem with the Flintstones suggestion is that not everyone on this site is looking to meet others in the way that they describe. OK, a lot of people are looking to arrange meets, but some are here just to chat, others to arrange other things, such as meetign clubs or at dogging sites, where the parties may just turn up at the same place at the same time, but it is not a situation where details are exchanged - they may be meeting total strangers and because they are meeting in a public place it is just like a chance meeting. I've done this using the photo ads (advertising for people to meet in clubs) - so following the Flintstones system I would not have got any stars :cry: , although I might have shagged more members off this site (without knowing it) than someone (if we use the Flintstones method) with 5 stars.

How about a star system?
People who prove consistantly to be cool dudes, whether it be living up to promises, turning up to meetings etc could be nominated for stars by members of longer standing - say people who've been around for six months or more.
That way, new comers could quickly gain respect but the time wasters couldn't simply award stars to themselves.
You'll never get a fool proof system, but the real twits would have to be very very bored and stupid and around a lot to try and outwit a system like that - knitwits tend to mess around then bugger off after a few weeks.
Just a thought....

I think the only way to do that is for some clever monitoring of reverse dns and emails - but as a lot of people use dial ups with dynamic addresses instead of static ones it would be really tough on administration. Plus the fact you say unrealistic expectations - We have an ad - it has pictures on it and a description of us. We arrange to meet someone and we turn up. They see we are the people in the pictures and we have not lied tooooo much about our body sizes and ages biggrin

and say "yes this is roughly right" by authenticating us - we do the same to them.
Surely all this system does is authenticate people by their peers and if it is understood to be only that, then it will work?

in a way theres already the star system on here if you look at there profile it tells you how many posts they have made and gives you the chance to read them all if you wish ,and the date they joined maybe that will give people more clues to see if people are fake but we got to understand that if someone is intent on lying they will go any length to do it theres a lot of strange people out there
all in all its still a very good idea and a little fun i spose knowing ive got a few stars wink

Sorry guys but Mark you are talking about stars in the forums I thought Claire was talking about authenticating ads. Many people do not come into the forums and it does not show the number of postings in the forums on the ad anyway. Have i got the wrong end of the stick here because i thought Claire was talking about a system of verifying ads/couples etc?

another idea would be to install messenger on your system its a free system and it real time voice so you can 1 2 1 voice with the person you think your speaking to instead of giving your personal info out it would give you a better idea who you are speaking to i.e male/female wouldnt mean to say they would turn up or if there genuine i think its going to be hard to work out if people are genuine or not, the only other thing i would think of would be if people did end up meeting up they put a tick on a forum saying that this person did turn up and they was who they said they was ,but that has it pitfalls as well same person using 2 id`s etc... i think its down to the person to trust or not to trust the person i cant see if theres anyway of making people 100% genuine. i wish i could come up with some better ideas which would save mark a bit of work

Tell me about it, Kat!!! MSN messenger has to be the ultimate in annoying programs. Although I do use it from time to time, I turn it to "appear offline" mode more often that not. My advice would be don't install the damn thing! evil

markus i very much doubt that microsoft will be sending out viruses on there software you may receive it in your email by other sorces but not by microsoft themselfs p.s if anyone wishes any help with software please feel free to pm me or the people ive added on msn im me i am more than willing to help anyone sorry about this post but id thought id clear up the matter microsoft infecting people your more likely to get a virus from not having a firewall installed again there free ones about just do a search cheers dean
