Sorry I can't help as I just got used to it, I guess every long term sufferer does, but I can well understand that until you do get used to it how mad it drives you...
I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember... since I was a very small kid. It used to drive me mad and my mum wondered why I was constantly waking up and whinging
  ... Then when I was about 10ish I saw a programme on TV about it and my mum took me to the docs. Til then I thought it was normal and that everyone had it
. Anyways, the doc was pretty unhelpful and basically said there as nothing they could do  So since then I have never really bothered about it. TBH I don't even hear the ringing any more unless I really listen for it. In fact, it would be pretty strange if it wasn't there. I have never had any explanation about why I have it and it doesn't appear to affect my hearing....... uggggggggggghhhhhhh... what was that you said?
