Blue platform shoes  I loved them when I was very much younger
When I was 17 I used to wear great pair of leather strides, black ripped t-shirt and silver and gold docs, leopod spot spiky hair and black eye liner.
I am now 48, a manager at an environmental organisation and have to sit in meetings with government officials, councillors and other such types and can't see it going down well, no matter how much I would like to see their faces as I walked through the door.
I'm not only too old, but also too much of a BBW to wear anything in Top Shop, Morgan, New Look or Etam (if they all still exist). I'm finding myself more often going to BhS and M&S, usually after hours fruitless searching through 50+ racks in TKMaxx. Mini skirts are a definite no-no, although that came back to bite me on the bum when I wanted one to wear to a recent 'school' themed social (I took some scissors to a long skirt in the end, and threw it in the bin the next morning).
So why is it that getting older almost precludes buying cheaper clothes?
i refuse to give up my dm's, vans, goth skirts n other goth clothing, dont care if am 40
Certain trainers that are so narrow they cut off the blood supply to my toes. When did that happen? Have everyone elses feet got narrower, or mine just become like bigfoots?
Briefs. Remind me too much of the snip and I feel like it is a bit like keeping a lion in a gerbil cage. (Edit : Perhaps that should be the other way around?).
Baseball caps while walking around town. I just feel like I am betraying my middle age roots. I may as well have a comb over and say "Hey wow!" a lot.
Sunglasses. I always wear them on holiday but I feel in this country it is a bit naive and I just look a bit of an arse.
Too old to wear my heart on my sleeve, but I do it anyway...
My wife thinks I still need a bobble hat and idiot mittens.
She's right too.
