in music its very difficult to chose favorites, what might be todays top tume often will be different tomorrow , heres the hard bit if you had to choose an ALL TIME top ten what songs/tunes/music would be in it biggrin also what bands/groups changed the face of music in your opinions ?
wow tough ones a !
One song that changed my perspective of the charts forever is still vivid in my mind. I was a regular listener to the charts, neve understanding why popular groups would be nipped from the top before I discovered it could be fixed like many things. I guess I was naive then?
Queens Jubilee year...Sex Pistols ' GOD SAVE THE QUEEN ', off sale for ages, but NEVER got to number one. In history as being held back so as not to offend, and yet even today the lyrics are misheard? Also Frankie goes to Hollywoods ' RELAX '. I dont think it was ever banned, but just dropped...made number one anyway.
i believe gstq did get to number one , but the beeb chose to ignore it and Rod Stewart top the totp charts instead.

Betcha cant name the original lead singer?????
ooh sorry
I also missed Gary Glitter, Barry Blue, Larry Lurex and OH MY GOD I forgot to mention Queen who are by far the most imprortant band since The Beatles. How could I have made this error! Especially as they are one of my fave bands and I have met them well before they were really famous an all (and I've got the pictures and autographs to prove it). Sorry Freddie (where ever you are) you are so much a apart of the fabric of things I just forgot to mention you! You are often in my dreams... I will forever remember 8/3/74...love from Lovecommando.

sing......3 is the magic number
Echo and the Bunnymen
Red Hot Chilli Peppers Coldplay Travis have all called them their biggest influence
Inspiration award at nme last year
I d have to agree with the other choices aswell.
for the single most influential artist of my time though it would have to be Bowie
Not only have the Wurzels not been given their due , but also missing are such musical luminaries as
Joe Dolce
Clive Dunn
and
Terry Wogan ......all of whom certainly changed my attitude to the charts when they had their number ones.

Absolutely right Fabio...I forgot to mention Jimi Hendrix (I was sloshed on German larger at the time so...) Probably THE most influential guitar player of all time, he came over here and showed eveyone else how it was done and transformed the sound of the electric guitar.
I forgot to mention others too who were either unique or influenced a genre of, I must admit, mainly rock or pop sounds. Including Dylan, The Byrds, The Kinks, Leonard Cohen, Peter Green, Nick Drake, Hawkwind, Steve Hillage, The Dammed, The Buzzcocks, Van Halen, Kate Bush, Anthrax, The Beastie Boys, Ride, Nick Cave, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, Sepultura...and many more no doubt to numerous to mention.
Huh! No mention of Mantovani or Victor Silvester either. Is everyone young on here? I mean, I've hardly heard of most of the people on these lists. Perhaps I should stick to Hymns ancient and modern? surprised :o :o
This is a strange one for you to add to the list.I was listening to a disc of a radio2 documentary on Dexys Midnight Runners and wow that brought back some fond memories.
Although Kevin Rowland is percieved as an oddball, his musical talent is ability to master different styles of music is amazing
