The word Twat means to me exactly the same as the C word, as someone that’s father used the C word often it always makes me cringe as I feel is it a just a vulgar synonym and a word I would not use to describe anyone.
People can sometimes give me a feeling of being a twit but then I snigger to myself and move on.
I don’t think all people can be a complete twit all of the time, as sometimes I think the same thoughts about people I care about plus myself at times.
So I am happy to forgive some twitisms.
Once they pass the stage I think they are a complete twit I just ignore them and move on.

A twat's a twat, but a cunt is something worse than a twat. But an arsehole is somewhere in between, but probably veering more toward the cunt.

I'd say the difference twixt a twat and an arsehole (ignoring the perineum) is intent.
A twat is usually one unintentionally- a bit like a fuckwit. An arsehole is someone who acts like a twat and doesn't care.
Well I was going to say I see a twat as a twit but with malice, however, I note witchy's post and this causes me to doubt my own conviction cos I can see her point about arseholes.
In conclusion I think twat's indicate a definite effort to be the way they are.
