The writers of The Simpsons have never revealed what state Springfield is in.
A cinema manager in Seoul, Korea felt that The Sound of Music was too long, so he shortened it by cutting out all the songs.
Scooby Doo's first real name is Scoobert.
Breath, by Samuel Beckett, was first performed in April, 1970. The play lasts thirty seconds, has no actors, and no dialogue. And no customers I would expect.

Although Springfield's location is never revealed, there are many jokes and references to its location. In one episode it's mentioned as being in North Kentucky (an American friend of mine told me that the accent is completely wrong for this to be true - but that can't be the gag, surely?).
Giraffes have seven bones in their neck, just like humans.
Composer John Cage's most famous work, called "4'33", is 4 minutes 33 seconds of complete silence.
The Welsh end of the Severn Bridge (the proper bridge, not the new tunnel on stilts) is actually in England. The River Wye forms the border.
Sweetness of food is measured in Brix.
The only clean-shaven member of the band ZZ Top is called Frank Beard.
The idea beh ind 4'33" is that it's 273 seconds - and absolute zero is -273 degrees C..
Stranger is the fact that Mike Batt put two minutes of silence on a CD, claiming it as a tribute to John Cage - and was sued by his estate!
I recorded a modern composition performance in Reading and the writer wanted the immediate environment to be part of the whole experience. We purposely chose a venue that was a small performing arts centre that happened to be slap bang in the middle of a ring road. About half way through piece of music there was almost a two minutes silence and vehicles etc could be heard from outside.
It's amazing what you can hear when you really listen!
