It feels weird to me sometimes, knowing peoples reals names, and speaking to them on the phone or via text etc, only to have to switch back to their screen names in the forum or chatroom.

The number of times I see someone's real name appear on msn and I think 'who the f*ck is that?' rotflmao
.... And there was me thinking you were genuinely busy and not ignoring me :giggle:
right new mission... too scared to talk to them on sat..... must find out more about blueeyes......

I normally do this via PM, to the individuals concerned; but I'm noticing it more and more so thought I'd float it in public.
It feels quite timely due to the sharp increase of "forum members" and a definite leaning towards getting the newer members involved, and into munches and socials.
A move I wholeheartedly support.
I've only ever been thanked for bringing this tiny indiscretion to notice, so here goes.
I see more often than I used to, people posting other member's real life names. Particularly in "Thank you" type threads following Munches/Socials/Parties etc.
It's very easy to get carried away and allow the euphoria of meeting people to carry over into your posts the following day.
This can quite easily lead to the "outing" of site users. If not alone, certainly in combination with other snippets of information we inadvertently give away.
I fully realise that some people sign off their own posts with Bob and Alice - that's not where my point is. After all, there are many Bob's that aren't actually called Bob.
Sure; Bob can always PM the person that's posted his name, or a Mod and ask for it to be edited - but Bob might not see the post until a couple of days later; after his neighbour/workmate/son has made the connection.
Please - think about it a little.
All the above also applies to posting pictures of people
I usually offer a word of caution to newer memebrs too, about them using their real names.
A very horny member of the site that's not very tall springs to mind wink

As someone who has just been to their first social I have said a name whole heartily sorry for this caught up in the excitement
I will in future watch what name i put
If i have caused any problems truly sorry
