Vanishing Photo Ads?!

Vix & I usually run 3 different ads on SH: "Couples Seeking Couples", "Couples Seeking Men" & "Couples Seeking Women". A couple of days ago, I noticed that only the "Seeking Couples" one remained - the other two having mysteriously vanished. Not thinking too much of it, I re-posted the other two ads. Logging in this morning, I find the other two ads are missing once again! Any ideas what's going on there (Mod assistance please)? The ones that vanished were #s 155890 & 155894. I was going to just re-post them again, but wanted to get to the bottom of this first. Any thoughts? Thanks!

A quick check on the address you have registered for Forum use says that you have a second addy is use in the photo ads section. Could it possibly be that the missing ads are in connection with the first address?
As you know, you can only have ONE verified address in use for the photo ads section. If you need any more help, PM me or one of the other Mods with the address you are using and we'll look into it further.

sad Not got two emails active (that correspond with ad's, anyway) AFAIK.
True, all 3 of our ads were tied to the same e-mail addy. Haven't had any problems until now.

P.S. to Heather: Just PM'd you the e-mail used for our ads.
All answered and sorted.. wink
Thanks so much for the insights, Heather. It does bring up one question and a possible "wish list" item...and, although I already PMd you, I wanted to post this bit in the forum in case any other users of the Photo Ads section had any clever ideas of how they might do it:
As mentioned earlier, Vix & I are looking for single men & women in addition to couples. Our ads are all very similar; we describe ourselves, what we're looking for, and use the same photos in each.
The "wish list" item would be to be able to cross-post an ad to multiple categories, so we could just have a single ad rather than 3 individual ones that would come up in searches of all 3 categories (although I realize this would be rather complicated to do).
Thus, does anyone have any ideas for a workaround? In other words, could we just have one main ad and somehow have it appear in all 3 categories? This would prevent browsers from seeing 3 seemingly-identical ads, even though we're really looking for 3 different sorts of people.
Thanks,

So, it seems we can only have one ad. sad I am so upset! :( If we can only advertise for couples, how am I supposed to get my lovely single men to see our ad, too? < pouts > and single women, too. < pouts some more >.
If singles read the rules and whathave you, and just look at "Couples seeking men" or "Couple seeking women" they'll not see our ad in "Couple seeking couples" will they?
We have experience of a site where when placing your ad you have to tick boxes to dictate which section you wish your ad to appear in...i.e. cpls seeking men...cpls seeking women etc...
It seemed to work ok and joined to this was the facility to search by geographical location which was very handy..
Obviously these things take time and money to set up so it would be a case of Mark studying the choices and weighing them up..
Vix, you can have more than one ad! Satin and I are running two ads at the mo as you can see from both of our sigs - one for couples and one for bi guys. The text of both of them is pretty similar except for the obvious differences in our criteria for each. There is nothing to stop anyone posting in as many categories as they like provided each ad is relevant to that category. However, I see the point entirely that posting very similar ads in lots of categories (even if thgey are relevant) does seem a little strange or even time wasting for people who read across the categories and see similar ads in each one. I myself have stuck to two ads at the mo, but I could post more, for example, in dogging and in the TV/fetish sections, but I haven't cos I don't want to bore you all with my even increasing sexual demands  . I fully understand what some people have said about how useful it would be to have people able to post one ad that links to several categories, but I assume that would be a nightmare that Mark doesn't want to face  wink So, working with what we've got, and let's face it that works fine most of the time cool , it all boils down to exercising a bit of common sense. Oh yeah, common sense is something a lot of advertisers lack, so that is why is us mods spend so much time sorting out the photo ads rolleyes . Forgive us our mistakes people, sometimes we get it wrong    ....
Anyways, Reese and Vix, I can't see any problem with you running three ads at the same time. The only thing we ask is that people don't post more than one ad at a time in each category as that really does get repetitive for readers and does cause us extra work. We also have the problem of people thinking they can get round this by posting similar ads in the same categories under different emails addresses..... this causes us extra work too! Again, it's about common sense, I can't see for example, why two members of a couple wouldn't be able to post ads using their own individual email addresses provided they stick to the rules, don't post the same ad in the same categories.... blah blah blah
Hmmmm..... what was I saying, oh yeah, Reee and Vix..... carry on advertising!
Blue - speaking as a person not just as a mod (mods are not really people, they are Borg :borg: )
Thx Blue. We have one ad in 3 diff categories. That is why we did not understand them being deleted.
As long as we're not breaking rules (and I am sure we were not at any time) we would like to continue to post these ads.
Vix, as we've already said, you need to vary those ads so that they are specific to each category.
A single male would not be interested in hearing you also want single women or couples as It's not relevant to him. Your text needs to outline the reasons why you're looking for a single male as well as the usual stuff about you.
You can then go on to do the same for single women.
If you really do need help putting together different ads, I'll try to help. Once your ads are markedly different from each other, you then can't be subjected to complaints about 'spamming' as has happened in your case.

Just a couple of points. Firstly, regarding having one ad which is linked across several categories. If you do something wrong on that ad, it gets deleted, but then it would be deleted across all categories. Would you want that? Currently if we find a problem with an ad, we deal with the one, not all, unless they were a problem too.
Secondly, what is the problem with rewording the ads? People are often complaining about receiving one-liner replies or 'cut and paste' replies and say why can't they make the effort? Works both ways if you do the same with the ad itself. Again, if people who browse the ads continuously see your ads at the top daily and all three are pretty much identical, what message does that send out? If a single guy did that, everyone would think 'how desperate is he?' If they all require refreshing daily, does that mean you are not getting responses of the right kind? Perhaps if it is, your ads might need reworking anyway.
Please don't take this as a dig at you two, Vix and Reese, as it certainly isn't meant that way. If you were in my area I would have responded by now!! We, as Mods, get to see a lot more ads than most people on here, because we have to, so we often see some pretty crappy ads and wonder why they were posted at all and would it ever get any responses. We also see all the complaints, so conversely, we know what other peoples opinions are to them.
Remember, we may seem godlike, but really we are human (except for the Great Black Dalek!), we make mistakes too! We also get tired and crabby when deleting dozens of ads every day - each!

Ok, I've reworded the ads so that there are sections that apply specifically to the categories they appear in. I've also added a little note explaining why we appear to have "duplicate ads" based upon the feedback we've received. So, hopefully, it's all sorted out now.
Here are the two new ads posted in addition to the "Couples Seeking Couples" one (the link for which appears in our signature line)...

...let me know if you have any critiques, and I'll get them modified.
We've been quite pleased with the response we've had to all three ads so far, and just want to make sure we're keeping in line with SH policies to avoid future instances of "vanishing ad syndrome". We do update our ads frequently, as I've noticed quite a few others doing when I refresh the "latest ads" link at the top of the page. Of course, we don't have a problem if viewers think we're desperate! lol And, despite the volume of replies we get, we still answer each and every one of them. They took the time to write to us, so it's the least we can do!

Now we have reached a happy ending I am going to lock this!! smile :) :)
