I'm a card-carrying omnivor - meaning that I eat a mixed diet of meat and veg, and the alternative is to be a vegetarian. But some people call themselves vegetarian when they actually have fish or chicken as a part of their normal diet.
I'm not criticising - I reckon there is a lack of proper worrds for people who eat more than pure vegetarian food.
So
Carnivor - eats only meat - very rare among humans and pretty unhealthy I suspect.
Omnivor - eats a mix of meat and veg - what most of us "carnivors" actually are.
Vegetrian - eats mainly plants (including grains) but may drink milk and even eat unfertilised eggs.
Vegan - eats only plants (including grains) and no animal products whatsoever.
Add macrobiotic, free-range and such like and you have a good mix of words to cover those.
But what should we call someone whose animal protein in only chicken (that is - no red meat) or only fish or only a mixture of those two?
I'm curious what people's suggestions are - I honestly can't come up with them dunno but I bet people who live those diets can biggrin
BTW I support every individual's personal choice on their diets and enjoy vegetarian food as much as a steak. Come to that - what's a good veggie Christmas dinner option?

If you eat fish or chicken you are not a vegetarian. I am a pescetarian which means that I am primarily vegetarian but I do eat fish.
So there's another word for you biggrin
Nice one - new word for my ever-growing food dictionary biggrin
I love fish - I bake whole trout in newspaper and it comes out moist and full of flavour. :bounce:
(I'm not posh or rich - my ex used to catch them)

I'm one of those also, however you say it, but only eat fish and not Chicken; sounds like something out of Scooby Doo....."I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!"
Usually only eat fish about once a week, mainly eat pasta / rice with Quorn mince or chunks.

You could try a nice nut roast instead of turkey or chicken for Xmas dinner.
BTW we consider ourselves vegetarian but do eat free-range eggs, but no meat of any description.

i can't see how you can be a veggie if you eat anything that has had to be killed, how of it ok to eat a fish but not a cow confused
Fish and chicken would make 'em a pescapoultrarian wouldn't it?
Or to put it more simply someone who eats fish and chicken with their veg. smile

Absolutely right - but I ate a lettuce yesterday with a big heart. rolleyes bolt

I'm not a vegetarian but I some time's say I am because I find it easyer than explaining why I don't eat certain food.
