virus problem any one know how to read a hijackthis log?

i was watching a so DO NO GO THERE!!!!
started to watch a video and AVG said i was attacked by WIN32/Heur as far as I was aware AVG took care of it.
My pc now works for a while and eventually freezes, I know its using my ATI video software, but can't seem to get rid of it.
I have done various scans in and out of safe mode, at first they would never finish, now they do but never find anything.
So if you can read and understand a hijackthis log and help me get rid of the swine i would be greatful.

try deleting avg includind the content of the virus vault,then reinstall and run may need to disable your system restore as viruses tend to replicate then reappear from here.

that would sound like its in AVG but its also in ATI my video software which i have already tried to unistall and reinstall but it still remains.
I must admit i forgot to turn off system restore.

If its not there anymore its donesomething to my grahics software, when i load up a page like the cafe, the icons that denote if you have read that thread or not, do not appear until I place my mouse over that topic then all is normal.
perve yes and i was shocked that i picked something up i'm normally very very carefull, there must be some real clever/mean stuff out there these days

Try Norman Malware ....it's a free one time scan that will remove malware (as the name suggests) but will also correct errors in your registry,I use it regularly(once every few months)and it nearly always finds something other programs have missed.I've also found that if you use free antivirus changing it occasionally tends to find stuff your previous program may have missed.

try here at trend micro use the housecall section
you may have to install something or allow it to check your system
its one of the best that i have used and will find any viruses old or new

I keep getting emails mentioning "trendmicro" - I assumed it was a virus since I've never heard if it. What is it?

this is always normally my first port of call and have used it many times before, but at the moment it never finishes the scan be fore it crashes.
i think drastic action may have to be done rolleyes

if you are getting any invites to go use trend micro in your emails please dont use them
allways goto it by webpage links by users forwarding it to you
trend micro used to be used more by businesses than your regular computer user
trend micro is actually a virus scanner for your computer and has a good data base for new or known viruses and info on how to remove them from your system (dosnt allways work thoe) a format of computer is a better way to go
