I just wondered if there was any news on Reese's situation - has anyone heard whether his appeal was successful or not?
I was wondering too. They've gone very quiet.
I guess these things take time. And if they've got a lot on their minds the forum might be a way down their list of priorities. I just hope they know people on here are thinking of them.
I noticed that Vix had posted today on a thread, just wondered if anyone had chatted to her whilst she was online.
All we can do is hope and pray that all is well, and that when things are resolved they will be back.

Exactly, Lieutenant.
TBH, I think R is planning on updating you, tomorrow. I don't wanna say the wrong thing, ya know.
Bless you all, though.

Thanks for all your thoughts and support!
Well, Vix & I went to see a solicitor in Wales last week who specialised in immigration law. 'Twas a bit of a trek, but he was the only one who'd consider taking my case (the Immigration Advisory Service wouldn't even touch it!).
Basically, the problem stems from the fact that I've been coming here for nearly four years on a six month visitor's visa. Thus, every six months I head back to the 'States for a week or so to remain "legal". Trouble is, the Home Office requires that an applicant have greater than six month's leave to enter before considering a change of status, so they had me on a technicality. Whilst consulting with the solicitor, we brought up all of the points I'd mentioned in our original thread as potential grounds for appeal.
In the end, after discussing potential pitfalls in how the Home Office might approach these arguments, he decided that the best thing to do would be for both Vix & myself to apply for a spousal visa at the British Embassy...provided I could do so before my appeal period was up. He drafted up a formal appeal (in the event we couldn't get an appointment), gave us a list of embassies and sent us on our merry way.
Upon arriving home, I set to work attempting to secure an appointment. However, the nearest Embassy that would take me was in New York City, and the earliest appointment I could get was just one day before my appeal period ran out! Vix & I quickly scheduled a flight to New York and have since been assembling all of the documentation we need to present, including letters from people who've known us as an established couple for the past few years over here to prove that we're "legit".
Everything's still up in the air, but we'll know by the middle of next week if the application is successful. We'll be sure to let everyone know what's going on as soon as we know ourselves...
~Reese! surprised
I don't know you two nearly as well as I should but I've been following the thread and like everyone else, wish you the best of luck, I hope you get what you need to let you stay together here biggrin

TnH and Mrs TnH
I have a friend who is a civilian instructor with the Army Catering Corp.
He recently had a Warrant Officer Ghurka retire after 24 years service he saw action in Northern Ireland and the Gulf so served our country well. When his time was up his passport was stamped occupation "FARMER" and back to NEPAL with him. My friend pleaded with Immigration to let him stay as he was a valuable member of society and they wanted to take him on as a civilian instructor (in the CIVIL SERVICE), it took a year and lots of slogging but they got him a UK Passport.
Its a shame when valuable and contributing immigrants have to face this sort of crap as the free loaders and health tourists pile in and drain our coffers dry.
BEST of LUCK Reese
Peace
Vix and Reese I dont know you that well, but good luck and hope it sorts itselef out.

My thoughts are with you both.......I hope you have a safe and successful trip to NYC......
sorry to hear that reese and vix, best of luck with the appeal, were all thinking of you guys x
Good luck with your application, in my opinion you are approuching things in the correct way. I'm sure you wont have any problems. Just a pain that you have to travel all that way for a visa.
As far as I'm aware you cannot gain the spouse visa you require retrespectively in country, meaning according to the rules you must travel outside the uk to gain pre entry clearance.
