Warning about PS3

Quote by Cubes
well fucking great for all you trying to stop it working lol Still cant get it to work on mine  Using an Xbox 360 which is no different to the PS3 for media sharing. The 360 is allowed in media sharing and the PC can see the 360 wave However the 360 fails to detect a pc confused??: I once again tried putting the 360's IP address as the DMZ and the 360 still cant see the PC. Been trying this off and on for at least 2 years  really do give up now rolleyes

Could it be the PC's firewall not letting the 360 in? dunno
Actually was playing with it again lst night  Forwarded a load of recommended ports and still had the 360's IP set as the DMZ. I also updated media player. I removed a switch from my network that was no longer of any use. PC can still see the 360 but can the 360 detect the PC, can it fuck

Your 360 fucks?????
Is that the delux model?
Can I have a baby 360 if it conceives?

You get the same problem with Apple TV II's.
As they utilise Apple's home share via i-tunes it can circumvent the Windows Networking Share settings. By default the pictures pick up 'MY PICTURES' folder and allows access to any sub-directories in there.
When I switched over the other evening to watch a film on the Apple, we found the screen saver showing selections from the 'adult' folder - oooooppps

DMZ on your router has nothing to do with it, your X360/PS3 are connected to the local LAN therefor the router is not the issue.
What version of Windows are you running?

Windows XP SP3 I believe. I have one more thing to try that I have not yet done and that is turn off windows firewall then try it. However, sure I tried this in the past with no luck but not at the same time as having the ports forwarded etc.

look here
you need the lastest windows media player first, try and turn firewall off and if it then works all you need to do is set it up correctly, you dont need to do port forwarding, you can allow applications directly
if all else fails you can use tversity as a 3rd party app
