I never wear a watch now I'm not working. Yes, i was a proper clock-watcher there!
I used to just wear cheap nasty things - about 4 quid from Argos - cos i actually didn't care and I was probably going to break or lose it anyway.
My ex got me a lovely Fossil Watch for Xmas or Birthday or summat but I never wear it now.
I've got my mobile on me to tell me the time when i'm out and about so i just use that.
I have a collection of watches according to what i am wearing. My fav is a silver quite cheap one that lights up if you press a button on it, i always wear it to bed and if i wake up in the night must turn it on to see what the time is.
I've got 3 watches though I rarely wear them except my fob watch for work. I've got a fab funky pink one my sis bought me a few years ago and sometimes wear that if I'm going out anywhere.
 This is a wind up innit?
I think I've got four watches, two are under the £100 mark and two are up in the 'how much!' bracket, but I seldom wear them cos without me glasses I can't see the poxy time anyways so rely on my phone most of the time.
I regularly use 3 watches:-
A nice smart very thin watch which was a present from a lovely lady, which I wear most of the time
A cheap "garage forecourt" digital watch which I wear at the swimming baths because its supposed to be waterproof to 10 metres ( been OK so far )
Another cheap watch which is very rugged and which I use when gardening or similar jobs where the face might get scratched.
I feel lost without a watch on and wear one most of the time except in bed (where I have an alarm clock in full view)
As for batteries -- I buy a card of batteries from the local "pound shop" -- about 15 different sizes with about 4 of each size -- and change them myself -- have done this successfully on the two cheap watches but I would probably take the "present" to the jewellers as I would hate to damage it.
