I have all these str8 young guys wanting to show me their bits on web cam, but my luck is out because I can not get msn messenger to work.
PC's can be a bit of a bitch some times.
Can any one in Shropshire help.
TS
Whats up with it TS? Can you describe the problem?
I go and sign in and it all disappears.
I can get on msn at the library but not from my own PC.

are u sure the program (msn messenger) is not running in the background and it has just reduced ? Do u have the green Icon in your task bar ? If you press the Ctrl Alt and delete key at the same time do u see a program called running under the processes tab ?
its pretty difficult to diagnose as i dont have the PC in front of me , but start with the above as a start point then maybe we can work it out from there.
I would also suggest deleting temp internet files and cookies as a matter of course , it may not fix the problem but its good housekeeping anyway .
good luck

Yes I get the icon task bar, but as soon as I try to click on it, that also disappears
TS
did u do the other things ? if so what result ?
EDIT : what operating system are u using ? Win 98 / Win ME / Win Xp etc etc ?
Sounds like you got a corrput install there TS, knowing the op system will help. It easy to ID, go to the start button (assuming windows 95+) and select Run.
In the box type winver and press enter.
I would suggest a reinstall of Messenger, the ol vanishing icon is common with task bar apps that have gone night night...
As TnH says above, the symptoms aren't unusual for a corrupted install
Only other things I can think of are a firewall of some kind, a virus or maybe some kind of spyware problem.
I've had spyware cause problems with other programs in the past.
assuming that u have broadband a re install may be the easiest course of action.
Personally i would un install the current version u have prior to downloading the fresh install.
To Remove
Click on start
Click on control panel or settings / control panel depending on your operating system
Double click on 'add / remove programs'
Highlight Msn Messenger and select Remove /un install depending on your operating system
Restart PC
Download new Msn Messenger from here >
good luck smile

Yes I did that and in the list was

I uninstalled msn and reinstalled it.
I have noticed that when i go to Tools, options, personal, my display name is empty and I can not enter a name

Your problems run deeper than a msnmessenger fault. The file name u quoted is a spyware/malware file. Download the following FREE program
save the program , preferably in the C: (primary partition /disk) drive and run a scan. DO NOT fix anything , just select the save log option and pm me the file it creates.

P.s. Also a good idea to download spybot search and destroy from here > .... update it , run it it m have it fix ALL problems.
