Ok, so I have a nice bulk of HTML, and want to test it as a page. I was using an online HTML generator (cos I`m lazy!), but want to see if I`ve edited out thier bits ok. Whats the easiest way to test this?

You say there's a lot of crap there - is that when you look at the HTML source? Does the page look ok when you open it with IE or are you saying there's lots of crap on the page when viewed?
I`m getting alot of spare code when I open it up with IE.
I`m using this to generate the code and it generates the page fine, except for a few link scripts etc I haven`t edited out yet. But when I save it to word, and open it up with IE, I get

and etc. I`m linking background textures from Photobucket, the logo works which uses an image linked from there, but the background doesn`t.
I won`t even go into the crap at the bottom of the page!
I`m just not sure where to start editing

I have a feeling it's Word that's creating the garbage in the file. Which version of Word are you using?

Ok, I've worked out what your problem is, you've saved it as an rtf file and then changed the extension to html? What you need to do is save it as a plain text file filename.txt and then change the extension to html.

Hi Guys, loads of people on here html guru's (not least the beloved Mark) I expect, but happy to offer help via pm or even phone if you really stuck on most HTML and graphics issues.
Due to my job I can do clever things (using the servers at work, dont tell...) that would let you see my desktop (I work in support) so I can show you how to do stuff in real time if you have broadband, or a bit slower if you dialup.
I write sites in my spare time and would be happy to help any fellow SH member, so feel free to drop me a pm if anything not being good, graphics playing you up, etc
