Just wondered if any members have ever considered surgery for weight loss, and if so, did you have it or did you chicken out/not have it done for another reason.
The reason I ask, is that Mr Bone has had a laparoscopic band (also called 'lap band' or 'gastric band') fitted about 18 months ago, and its the best thing he has ever done.
It was done via keyhole surgery, and he was in and out of hospital in 24 hours, and is much, much safer that gastric stapling or gastric bypass.
His reason to have it done was a health issue and not a vanity one......his own father died at the age of 46 from an MI, andit was when he hit the 25 stone mark that we decided enough was enough and he needed to do it for his kids if no-one else. So far he has lost just over 6 stones, and in doing so his health has vastly improved too.
If anyone wants to know anything or wants any info, I would be only to glad to share it, either on the thread, or in private via pm.
nope i didnt have surgery but i joined weight watchers and a gym last year and have lost 6 stone 10 pounds so far, you dont need surgery to loose weight.
WOW!! Well done NN, you should feel very proud of yourself!
congrats on your achievements biggrin
I was thinking of having my underpants removed by surgery. The problem is finding a toxic waste dump that will take them.
I reckon I would lose about a stone in weight if I had clean nik niks on wink

ewwwwwwww KEENO!!!!
I know someone who had it done about 10 yrs ago! He had his stomach stapled. Quite a drastic op, but for his healths sake he had to do something.
He had to change his whole eating lifestyle. After six months I walked past him in the street (he was so large he couldn't walk very far before)......he looked fantastic and so well. He did find it hard as at first he couldn't eat solid food and he craved for something to chew!
Wish Mr bone well kiss
Thanks Anais kiss

Well done thats some achievment! I joined last week hope I can manage to do as well.
Congrats on the weight loss Mr Bone biggrin
i must admit the biggest thing about loosing a lot of weight is the saggy skin it leaves behind and no matter how hard to work at the gym it never seems to remove it, i would have surgery to remove that lol

DEFFO agree there, i lost 10 1/2 stone,(stress after divorce  ) put 2 back on and am going on a new diet, a bit like slimfast, so im goona be looking to get a tummy tuck and boob job for sure xxj
Last year I lost 2 1/2 stone was was feeling comfortable(ish) with my body shape/size. I then got pregnant and promptly put the whole lot back on :upset:. I`ve really got a hangup with my body at the moment so yes I would consider it for health reasons as well as cosmetic reasons. Dieting etc worked for me last time but its just not happening for me at the moment! .
