How are you all then?! i prefer the forums then to chat theres a better chance of reading everything said! Sooo.... how are you all tonight!!! (though i like forums more i'll still chat like it's interactive!)
All good here fella thanks - the chatrooms are very hard to break into for some likewise the forums for others. Its just a case of plugging away at it - good luck mate
did someone say something??
The chat rooms are full of cliques and white knights.... I really can't be bothered to try and work my way into them.
The forums are the best place to get yourself know imo
It can be cool in the chatrooms sexon and Subject get along to the Bristol area rooms and say Hi to us in there we'll make you coffee - well I get J too biggrin
Some rooms are great and all just have a laugh and a bit of banter and very easy going. People just join in. But some are clique you have to just keep at it and find a room you feel comfortable in and look out for the room name again people do start to notice your name after a while.
I would avoid really busy rooms or the main rooms. some of the side room are an easier start.
When I started using rooms a couple of years ago now, I just found a room I felt looked friendly after sitting observing for a while, and just said I dont live here but can I gate crash lol
After a while I just used to open my own room then you find the same people start to come in night after night.
I have always prefer the chat rooms if you find a good one the banter is great. I always go on cam showing my face while chatting so you can see who you are talking too, other do too, so you get to know people more.
So Chat rooms have my
Good luck anyway and welcome to the forums!

We always used to go into the chat rooms most nights. But of late we have found them rather dull and very samey.
Even the great Kent room has it seems been starved of people of late.
It just does not seem to have the same banter there used to be, and I really cannot put my finger on it. Maybe we are bored with them?
Minxy always used to run a good ship, and must admit I do miss her contributions.
Whatever the reason I for one like the forums, even if some do not like me. lol
rotflmao worship BIoke, you kill me sometimes... I think I need to learn that song. We'll have a singalong next road trip! wink
Sorry, back to topic: I found chat quite a scary place at first. Mind you, I didn't post in the forums for a good while either. I went through a period about 18 months ago where I kinda felt I'd broken into the whole chatroom thing - it took a while and basically I focused my attention on one room and slowly got to know people, joined in chat, suffered a bit of ignoring at first and then kinda became part of the furniture.
After a few friends left the site it wasn't the same, so I've not been in there much of late.
Defo takes perseverance though.
Nola x
p.s. Subjectme, always cool to see new folk posting in the forum though - so get stuck in!

I don't I've ever been acknowledged in chat. Well that's not strictly true but when it did happen once I panicked and couldn't keep up.
Welcome to the forums Subjectme - the pace is slower here but you get to know people better as a result.
.
I always find you need to concentrate with chatrooms ... forums you can dive right into.
QED :P
Chat rooms aren't the easiest of places to break into. The occupants have been there some time and know each other well enough to exchange insulting humourous banter. It's rather like landing in some out of way place and joining the locals in the pub. It can be daunting.
Recently the banter in rooms does seem to have faded somewhat and I'm at a loss to explain why. Others I have spoken to report the same.
Hence I'm here posting in the forum. It's a place I can say my bit, and enter into a disscusion, which I can follow at my own pace. The chat can go too fast sometimes and I loose my thread. I can only type slowly.
In the meantime Subjectme carry on where you feel most comfortable.

Did you notice as soon as I stopped opening up my room on server 4. Server 4 disappeared
I don't know where to go now, but I was on cam on Friday evening back in the chat rooms, you just missed me wink
I went into chat a few weeks back, had a visit to a popular room, said hi, no one acknowledged me, made a comment about visiting from the forums, no one acknowledged me.
There were at least 3 names I recognised and 2 I've met and spoke to! Then I had one of the regulars acknowledge me in pm/whisper!
I won't be going back! If a "known" site regular gets ignored I have huge symathies for "unknown" newbies!!

Is it possible to find anyone 'normal' to open it?

That is exactly the way I describe it to people.... and it look me ages to break my local pub, so maybe it just made me more patient with the chat rooms to begin with, stick with it..
Sometimes the more established the room... the longer and harder it is to break... I just jump in with both feet and make a clod of myself!!! lol
but I think it is true that some rooms tend to be more friendly than others... just a case of finding the ones that work for you...
heck its been nice seeing some forum regs in the rooms that I frequent...
At the risk of going off on a nostalgia trip I haven't enjoyed the chat rooms for a while so I haven't used them much.
All new communities are difficult to adapt to and settle into. Patience and perseverance are my only words of advice.
Alas, I must agree with the opening post...
It can be very hard to hold a conversation in a chatroom.
As ironic as it seems, they are usually the last place to find intelligent, flirtacious (not sexual) banter.
I also noticed a couple of folks mention the White Knights. This too is becoming a tedious phenomenon. Attractive ladies are always welcome, but the assumption that all they say and do is 'right' is a quite incorrect one.
Cliques are a natural occurrence in chatrooms. I don't much like them, but they are understandable. However, it's all too easy for forget what it's like to be new.
Welcome to the forums then... and best of luck with your quests (whatever they may be!).
Hi Subjectme, welcome to the forums and hope to see lots of posts from you biggrin
As for chatting in chat, yes it can be difficult as sometimes you do feel ignored. However, I dont think that for the majority of people, this is intended. Chat can go so very fast that it is so easy to miss something someone as said, and as others have already commented, some are only there to chat with people that they actually know (their friends).
Please dont give up with the chatrooms as they can be good fun, but more importantly, welcome to the forums and the chatroom lol

I think thats the golden rule
depending on speed of internet access sometimes being in chat can mean you're 5 mins behind everyone!
But keep on chatting and folks will chat back - they have with us - for us the main thing has always been that if your in a chat room - your chatting - ALOT of folks come into chat and ask for others to chat to them in whisper rather than just 'shooting the breeze' in open chat until you feel you want to whisper to them
I go in the TV/bi/gay rooms and must admit, find them friendly.

I tend to stay clear of the chat rooms now. Kent room has almost died most nights, and the rest I find well........
No doubt have a bit of banter in the forums no doubt?
Hello all
I used to use the chatrooms alot, mostly the Bristol Room. With a profile name like mine its a little bit more difficult to stay hovering in the shadows, so I didnt hover for long and soon got chatting.
Lots of fun, happy people, a few irritations but I am not averse to ignorning whispers if they are rude.
I popped into Bristol room the other day and there are lots of new faces and few of the old ones that I remember.
Straight away came the "Mistress hello, where you been?" etc. and it felt so nice to have been missed.
(My other half had a bad accident and we have been absent from chat for a long while)
My experience is good. Thanks to all those who make the effort in chat and to those who waggle their bits and pieces on cam, thanks to you too. I always love a good waggler.
Keep on chatting/camming.
