I am looking forward to my first meet next weekend and can't wait to put faces to the names of people I've been chatting to over the past few months. wave

I am wondering if the images I have of people in my head are anything the real people in the flesh.

Davej was really different when I met him......for one thing he was about 30 years younger than I expected him to be....LoL.....

I learnt a long time ago never to create mental images of the people I was talking to online as they're always different to what you think they are. Better to have photos of them first, if only to avoid looking completely shocked and amazed at how different they actually look.

But it's a natural thing to do, surely? I don't think you can help but have some sort of image. I have met 3 people from the site so far and none of them was very different to my mental picture

if you like to see pictures b4 you meet its a good idea to ask for a recent one, we once met a couple and recieved pictures but it turned out they were taken about 10 years previous, so everything was different from the hair colour/build and the number of front teeth he had lol

Yes ..I also form an image of people through their postings and almost without exception they have looked different to the way I had them pictured. What I have found is that after meeting people, it helps me when reading their posts because I read it with a different accent in my head, or with those little mannerisms that you notice when talking face to face with people. Folks posts take on more life after I have either met them or at least seen them.

at the eecent plymouth munch i was surprised about marmalaid, well he was a man , lol i thought it was a female, but a very sexy man he is.
dont think ive had any other surprises, well none nasty anyway. thats regarding people of this site.
i have had a few on blindish meets, seenn pics but they have turned out nothing like i imagined. i think most guys need to buy a decent tape measure as most have always been shorter than they have said. In height im refering to lol.
baffles me as if its a intended meet then surely they realise im going to realise they lied??
this then makes me think what else would they lie about?
maybe thats why so many people are let down with no shows as when it comes to the crunch the person realises how silly being generous with the truth was.

Well thats always an interesting question .................... some people thought I was a pensioner well I am hahahahahahaha (NO). People were even better than I had imagined which was brilliant. Take people as you find them and you wont be dissappointed smile

Some people 'seemed' different than I expected until...
I started talking to them - at that stage all the points you pick up on from their posts just slot into place - especially those I had chatted to for a while.
To be honest I also use msn and my webcam quite a bit too - so I tend to get to know people a fair bit that way!

I think for me lots of people where different but some that stand out the most was Vix. I was realy scared of meeting her for some reason wink

but when i did she was absolutely gorgeous and a great laugh. lol

Postie was another one. Wasn't sure what i would think of him, but he is a complete sweetie kiss

, realy nice and very easy to talk to. biggrin
