every now and then i have a browse through other contact sites (sorry) as you know you need to post a profile to get access to have a look at what is on offer. No problems up untill the other day. I put a brief profile on a free site (i wont mention a name) had a look round and then forgot about it. Imagine my suprise when i check my inbox and find over 20 replies. all a little bit vague but i returned to the site to check them out. guess what, you cant contact anyone unless you pay a large amount of money to become a 'premium' member. My point is why can they say its a free site if 'free' only gives limited access. also, how legal is it for a site to send moody replies just to get people to subscribe. Maybe one of our mods will know the legalities. meantime i will stick with SH. empty inbox but lots of chat with friendly folk
Just stay here anyway!
Paying sites do it to make money - free sites do it to help swingers
I went on a couple of these paying sites before stumbling onto here......they all have their pros and cons (some it seems more like just one big 'con'). SH is certainly one of the better ones (should I be saying the best? - ok, definitely my favourite!) but the bottom line with SH you get to spend all your money on the nibbles and the hotel (and not forgetting all the lovely people you get to chat to!) - so here I stay.
I have had similar experiences with sites sending false messages. The good thing is they are sh*t at it so spotting dodgy replies is easy. I registered on a site and put the usual rushed profile details in with no photo. Ten minute later a sexy looking model wanted me.....Well I knew I was good but not that good.
Even "mainstream" dating sites do it. They will send a mesage from a stunning girl who only joined that day and coincidentally never logs on again.
I dont really blame them; its all part of love and war. It is essential you are not sucked in. Its the old addage, "if it looks too good to be true it probably is."
I would be amazed if it would be classed as illegal and who is going to investigate this?
Sometimes you get what you pay for but SH may question that.
Good luck and a good tip is, if the start a message with "Hello Cricket68" (in my case) it is much more likely to be genuine.
Yup! Been had on one of those sites too before I discovered this one ... we learn the hard way I guess ... you stick on a profile, get mails saying you've got mail but you have to subscribe to contact people ... soon as you do, the mails disappear! I cancelled the membership immediately and the credit card I'd used too for safe measure!
There is an advantage to a paying site in that it eliminates some time-wasters, voyeurs and toe-dippers. I would gladly pay to get quality in anything in life. The better sites have a 3-day trial offer for a fiver which gives you a taste for a small sum.
