What can I do with a Goth?

Dear Folks
After a very brave confession on my part to a work colleague where I outlined a little more about my private life than I sensibly should, I now have a little bit of a challenge.
This colleague (whom I always assumed was a time served Goth) has confessed that she knows very little about Gothic pursuits and has asked for my help. All she knows is that it fascinates her and she feels drawn to a Gothic lifestyle.
So I'm asking you lot...
What can I Goth (living in London) get up to? Where are the best clubs? Any good places for clothing (and this is a perfectly formed, well upholstered lady)? Jewellry?
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Heather
you should be able to find all you need to know at

Hope this helps

I noticed that there seems to be a huge amount of goth stuff fro sale on eBay including clothing etc!
Perhaps that will help.
The first mention of Goth on here since I join and it's the opposite end of the country that I know little about !
Right - the total sum of my knowledge of "darn sarf" in this respect is trawling Camden locks Sunday market and the shops in the half mile or so before that (some amazing boots, jackets and drop-dead amazing cyber-goth accessories) and seeing whats on at the Electric Ballroom.
These are places I've been to but these aren't my words - I quote:-
Of particular interst is The Black Rose which has a large branh in the Stables secton of the market (past the railway bridge). The store has a large amount of goth clothing, jewellery as well as makeup, hair dye and other goth the moment the store is only open on Saturday and Sunday. In the same part of the market is Breathless for rubber clothing. F.U. Baby for all sorts of great outfits, the Magic Shoe Company with all sorts of great boots as well as Cyberdog, with some very good well cyberware goods.
On a Sunday the Electric Ballroom is opened with market stalls inside plenty to find including a man who is does wonderful black spikey bracelets, necklaces, earings and rings.
Cold Steel is one of the best places in London for body piercing. They are very professional and clean. They are also pricey (£20 for a piercing), but it is worth it. They are on the right hand side just before the railway bridge.
Resurection Records which is just a few shops away, at 228 Camden High Street, has a great stock of goth, metal and industrial records, as well as having tickets for all the gigs and events you are likely to want to go to.

or, for your evenings fun:
"it's the Friday night goth fest, Full Tilt, for which the Ballroom is justly famed. As you?d expect, the promotion corners the market in ludicrous dye jobs, Max Factor pan stick, painful-looking piercings and angsty posturings; and has done so since the mid-80s. Sexy, if you're into that sort of thing, scary if you're not.
The music is goth, techno, punk and industrial downstairs, with seven shades of ear-bleed rock blasted out upstairs. So, if chronic tinitus, patchouli oil, repressed IT workers and oddball decadence grab your goat, then this is definitely the place to bring it.
However, if you find yourself here by accident, fantasising about garlic and stakes, fear not ? for the Ballroom maintains a surprisingly jovial and trouble-free environment.
Despite the preponderance of handcuffs and spiked thigh-length boots, the only risk to your person is from the man-breasted middle-aged rubber enthusiasts who seem to have been trapped in here since the club?s halcyon era in the 80s.
Again predictably, black dominates the décor. However, conditions are refreshingly large and airy, with a mammoth dance floor downstairs, overshadowed by a balcony for the hot and hormonal (hear that rubber squeak). The one complaint, and such a bugger for those in six-inch patent leather stilettos darling, is the stairs. They are dark, numerous and slightly dilapidated ? much like the clientele"

also:
"The (Camden) Underworld: a venue which is occasionaly used for putting on bands. Located beneath the Worlds End Pub (easily spotted if you go out the left hand exit of the tube station). A nice club very atomspheric for goth bands"
Grief, that last post of mine brings back some pretty mad memories - mostly involving absinthe, antique markets, nipples, gargoyles, green dye and a perfectly placed breast tattoo. Oh, and getting thrown out of Euston Station....
{sigh}
Carpathian
Was our goth help any use to you Heather ?
Hope so as it rekindled past mad-memories for me at least !
Carpathian
Well as a new member here I'd be keen to show willing so if you have any specific queries I'd be happy to answer them via PM,I'm very much involved in the Gothic/Industrial/Punk scene in London so may be of some use.
Basically though, what Carpathian said applies well,if in Camden be sure to hunt out the Devonshire Arms pub (you may even see me in there....)
