I refer to mine as knickers too.
Undies is a good general perm.
If I'm feeling a little horny/pervy in the company of a 'lady' I like to use the word: panties.
I have no idea why, but that word, hang on, I'll say it again; "panties" seems aver so slightly naughty... seem rather fitting.

Would never call my underwear knickers, sounds very feminine to be honest. Boxers or in my case hipsters.
