This is possibly a boring thread, but I am curious what other people do when its raining. I don't drive, so don't go out far very often, so walk everywhere. When it rains it's not so pleasant.
When it's really horrible outside, which it's forcast in Oxford to be over the weekend, I have an hours soak in the bath with a book, I'm currently reading Jackie Collins new book, with candles etc, then will be online and loading my ipod.
What will you be up to if it rains?? Hope you have a good weekend whatever you do!!
biggrin
Well, i muust be mad because i love the rain... it's just nice to walk in the rain! Coming in and having a warm bath is the best bit though after getting soaked through confused It is nice to sit inside though with a good book and curl up on the sofa and forget it's raining outside lol
We having a chilled weekend as weather not looking too good in Kent either... tomorrow we taking kids swimming ( indoors me thinks ) pmsl, then sunday hubby will be chilling infront of the tv for the F1 and i will be cooking him a nice roast... yum yum!
Thanks Misskitty, great post
Open the windows wide knock the telly off and listen! or stand at the back door and just watch and listen i love the sound of rain, dont even mind going out in it, its refreshing although sometimes the dog isnt so keen on her walkies
rolleyes
If im stuck indoors I usually find myself working on my book, the sound of the rain brings out my creative side.
I love the smell of rain... One of my favorite things is to stand in my garden with my face to the clouds and feel the drops fall on my face...
smile
I love the smell of the ground when it's been raining, you can smell the earth, and the plants, its beautiful!
The only downside, is that when my cats go outside, they come in soaked to the skin, shake themselves and cover me in lord only knows....
Anybody like thunderstorms??
:scared: you will usually find me under the table with my cats....
Love thunderstroms to, ok im just wierd redface i love counting between the thunder and lightning seeing how far away it is  Had a great time one early evening at the beach had took the dog and son lovely warm night we only had t shirts on, decided to pour down thunder and lightning it was a wonderful natural display got home looking like drowned rats the 3 of us
When I was on holiday in Tunisia a few years ago, one day we had what the rep called a tropical storm... it was amazing! I think I started to lose my fear of them then. I went and stood outside and watched the sheet lightening.. it was glorious. And again.. the smells.. this time of the sea... wonderful.
I don't mind them in the daytime.. I just don't like being on my own at night when there's one... silly I know but I can't help it!!
ps does anyone remember the Toyah song Thunder and Lightening? and where I could get it??

dont know it this is the one you mean but seems there is a few versions by numerous people

I lived in Rotherham and my mum used to take us to Clifton Park and stand on the highest hill and watch.. I can still remember sitting under a tree holding her hand and watching.. I must have been about 7 at the time... It's amazing that I remembered that! I miss Doncaster, haven't been up for a few years now x

we love storms too. like tanny i like to count the thunder down. we are lucky to live near cusworth park. you can stand on top of the hill near the hall and see the whole of doncaster. when the storms are out that way you get a great show.
not so keen though when they are right over the house and make the whole house shake!

Hi Tan xx Thanks for searching.. but it's not the one! I am going to show my age here.. it was by Toyah Wilcox and was released, if I'm correct around 1981. She used to wear warrior style clothes and her hair was multicoloured and spiky a lot of the time... will try a search for Toyah and see what that brings up!
Thank you again xxxx *hugs*

I'd go one further than not nice. It's quite pathetic.
its still raining here in the border of south wales, its still dark at midday enjoying a cup of tea and have suspended my hair...but apperently its the longest day of the year should they extend the shopping time
I was up at 5 in the stupid hope of getting rid of some junk at a car boot sale, needless to say I didn't bother! I'm now trying to make a last minute fancy dress costume as I didn't read the invite to the party I'm off to tonight properly. Normally I don't mind the rain but I'm praying it holds off next week-end.

whats the theme of the fancy dress i wonder!
Just got back from my three carers jobs - I look after 3 elderly ladies on a Saturday, and two of them have dogs.. typical it was chucking it down when I went round and they had been out. The both jumped all over me and now I smell like wet dogs...
Off for my bath!!!! ttfn xx
