What is your preferred/unusual breakfast? We could allow 2 options - a quick brekkie for maybe a workday and a long, luxurious repast for weekends.
I'll stick my ha'p'orth in :
Quickie - your basic cereal (NOT cornflakes), unsugared, semi-skimmed milk or left over crumble if there is any.
Long and luxurious - porridge cooked long and slow with added clotted cream and whiskey or Bailey's. Tea in one of my cute 'tea-for-one' pot/cup affairs, very very good bacon, cooked 'til the fat is brown and crispy, served with soft, creamy scrambled eggs and a fresh, toasted bagel. (Perfect for Christmas)
Fruit or alpen type of cereal/nut bars in the week
Weekend has to be a combination of bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushroom, bread/toast and a massive mug of tea
Most days it's porridge
........but I do like a good breakfast, about 10 courses.
...but before that a lady or two.
Usually nothing. But if I can be bothered then either porridge (oatso simple lol) or a nice fry up (odd weekends only)

Until very recently we would always have chosen the full, english fry-up as our favourite breakfast - you know - bacon, sausage, black pudding, egg, mushrooms, toast, fried bread, beans , tomatoes etc etc and it is still deffo number 2 on the list
BUT
recently we holidayed in Turkey and a Turkish gentleman we befriended (in a purely vanilla way) took us and a friend to the most amazing breakfast.
About 5/6 miles away from the resort we were staying in, we arrived at a little woodland just about 400/500 yds from the main road. Nothing much there but a couple of shacks - or so we thought.
We walked into the woodland and began noticing tables and chairs and what looked like a large tree-house, as well as the little stream that ran through it - all populated by ducks and chickens. And a couple of guys in white shirts and black trousers. This was the cafe!
We chose a nice table and with just a few words from our guide the table was dressed and the food began to arrive
- fresh warm bread (baked that morning, on the premises and still warm from the oven) in a large round fluffy disc.
- Butter with Jam and Honey Combs
- Macadamia Nuts
- Grated cheese
- Pine Nuts
- Melon
- lashings of hot Tea/Coffee as required
- Toast
- and then something special - a metal bowl containing a hot ember from the fire, onto which was placed a metal plate. In the plate was a little oil, some peppers (red & yellow) and tiny diced bits of lamb - all seasoned with spices that frankly I couldn't begin to describe but which tasted amazing
TBH we cannot think of a better way to start what has to turn out to be an amazing day.
Normally I skip breakfast. Yes, I know I shouldn't but at the moment I have a one and a half hour journey to work so I usually just get showered, dressed and go.
Sometimes, if I'm feeling peckish I will get a bowl of museli and milk from the coffee shop at work. On a Friday, I will sometimes have a bacon or sausage sandwich instead (or, if I fancy a real treat a bacon AND sausage sandwich).
Weekends, either nothing or Weetabix with dried fruit instead of sugar (oh, don't I sound healthy, lol).
Christmas Day - I'm with funcouple, we always have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, though I have to admit that we have a glass of champagne instead of OJ (Sappho has a Bucks Fizz). Hmmm, that's blown the healthy image
Foxylady - one of the twins loves leftover crumble for breakfast too. Must be a girl thing!
Will
Feeling peckish now - must be time to check the roast beef :P
My favourite bread, toasted & buttered, served with sliced avocado seasoned to taste with a little lemon juice and paprika (or pepper sauce), add two perfectly poached eggs...yummy. pot of tea or coffee....and shared with "dirtygirl" xx
Ripe figs and a piece of creamy cheddar cheese sits well too.
sliced avocado, bacon and blue cheese goes well together too..
What do you prefer in the morning?
Waking up, and long may it continue
