... when you read an advert?
After reading Scandal's recent thread on "What turns you right off" when you read an advert, it made me think about what turns me on when I read one. I think I like someone who's a bit out of the ordinary but it's hard to put my finger on exactly what that is. I guess I like a connection in sense of humour or to be able to tell someone is on the same wavelength as me or into the same things. I like a bit of cheek... and not in the arse sense (although I do like those too!) but for me I like a bit of banter! wink
I don't have an advert, mostly because I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for. I know when I find it but there doesn't seem much point in writing an ad saying that! rolleyes
So when you read an ad... what is it that grabs your attention and makes you want to respond?
lol
we just posted the same thread at the same time rotflmao
mine's deleted, lets run this one

Great minds clearly think alike! :bounce:
i dont really think i have an answer cos i am not looking for anything in particular, as in not looking for a pert bum, big dick, etc etc
i dont have an ad either, for similar reasons as DG, i want someone that stimulates my mind as well as everywhere else, there has to be a mental connection, sometimes this can be picked up from the way someone posts or is in the chatroom, then maybe taken to the next level and msn.
i dont check out the ads on the site so basically if i dont come across someone on the forums or chat they dont exist, maybe i am lmiting myself but i have found no problems in finding someone if i want to.
so i dont have particular specifications apart from not mega hairy but that should be more in scandals thread is suppose.

What grabs me?.....
god, this is actually quite hard isnt it - its far easier to say what you dont like than what you do lol
I tend to be very drawn to profiles/ ads that are well written - it shows the thought that's gone into it, and quite detailed in their content - for the same reason biggrin They grab me when they're very specific and straight-up dunno alot of folk dont like that, but to me its just so easy then to read, see if I match, and if I dont...wave and it tends to be the 'type' of people I'd 'go for' that do the 'this is how it is, if you like it, pm me' thing
I posted in Scandal's thread about the one that was worded & titled 'are We what You're looking for' - regardless of content, it was enough to make me go have a 2nd and 3rd look

I only really go for a nosey in the ads section when I'm killing time or checking who's registered and is a bit too close to me lol but I have a major habit of checking posters profiles redface - many of those are like little adverts now anyway and if something appeals in there, you can guarantee i'm off to nosey at their ad

very rare i even check out an ad then, even when its pm's guess i am just lazy lol but then its very very rare i actually approach anyone.

'Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...' lol
when i was single, and i was single for a very long time lol i always used the photo ads to much success, the forum just opened up the social side to swinging for me, which is great but it didnt get me shagged rotflmao
now, i do actually browse the photo ads quite a lot either when im killing time or checking out a new forum poster. most of the time they make me chuckle and sometimes they show me what im missing out on (seeing as im happily otherwise engaged for the moment). i do look tho, nosey i guess dunno
in terms of what grabs me i have to agree with the rest of the gorgeous girls on this thread - clear, well written, quite specific, more modest than "show off", with a little humour thrown in is likely to make me stop and look. that and a good couple of photos (body is best and if its a couple one of each rather than all of the wife, and i dont neceserrily need to see any action shots either). so i guess if/when i start looking again thats what i will still be attracted to.

People with a discerning attitude.
Self respect and high self esteem.
Confidence and maybe a little arrogance.
Independent thought.
I quite like a challenge in the sense that they have to make me work.
Well presented, nails, clothes, hair, shoes, teeth, general attention to detail.
At least the basic aspects of looking after their body health and fitness wise.
Dry whit, a little sarcasm, intelligence.
These are a few of my favourite things
biggrin

And if it wasn't for the "Embassy Number 1" rotflmao
I'm afraid we only nosey at adds redface
What makes me look further though? If its downright shockable or laughable to me, i will go for a further nosey lol If its very near to us, again i will go look to see if its anyone i may recognise.
Overall, to attract for a meet, we wouldnt use the adverts, i'm stimulated by banter and chat, sadly though, some think, one good chat and their in; does not work that way for us, i need some sort of rapport before even a social meet would be arranged.
The key for us is banter, amusing, witty, a little cheeky and be able to laugh at yourself also - Gawwwd i dont ask for much  biggrin
In edit: Embassy No1 is a must! :giggle:
Ummm I too was thinking about this last night when I was talking at some length to someone whose bones I want to jump...(don't you just love schoolboy language)
All of the people that I have met off here I have contacted initially. What caught my imagination about them was their wit and humour in the chatrooms/forum and their profile.
I am a sucker for diction and intelligence. That may not translate into good spelling. But spelling does help.
I like someone who knows their own worth and that can come across in someones' chat and profile.
I look for similar things in male and female personalities. But I really don't like the kebab shots on some womens' profiles. More because they look much better with my face there. (sorry momentary filthy thoughts.. moving on)
I like confidence.
I love dry humour. I actually really enjoy someone who flatters me but less to do with my physical being and more to do with my ability to communicate.
I adore sarcasm and cruel wit. I love self deprecating and observational humour.
I need to know that I can have a conversation with someone. I talk at great length in various mediums with everyone that I have ever played with.
It is also essential they love long answer phone messages too. As I tend to fill up the whole message with distracted waffle.
The ability to converse about more than just sex. But who can easily talk about all aspects of sex is a must (that isn't to say that I always can- especially with women for some reason I do get more shy with women)
oh I know... someone who, when sending me a PM has clearly read my profile. That is a must.
splendid.

Which made me make sure ours was up to date lol. We have a habit of not updating it often enough really.
On topic - We dont really look at the ad's anymore but a bit about the person/peoples personality rather than just sexual likes & dislikes tends to get our attention because it's about the whole package isnt it?
*Her*
What grabs me to explore further and read adverts etc is very different to what would make me take it any further and make contact.
What grabs me is detail, more than one or two lines. An advert title that strikes a chord with what I'm looking for and uses the sort of words I would use. I would use words like sensual and lusty not giz ramming. It's only natural that we are drawn to similarities of thought.
Also I'm not a tits and bum girl, I'm a hair and teeth girl. lol
And of course wit! Somebody who can make me laugh is very attractive. Also I'm not classicaly attractive but I do tend to grow on people, therefore a good sense of humour is needed.
dont really know what we like on adds as we meet all tpyes of people and have found it much better to meet them then decide as there more to a person than pic and what they can type lol

All that in an advert? Fook man yer a hard man!!
.
I like to see an open mind within the limits the person(s) wants to set. I don't like things that are too precise or specific. It betrays an inflexibility, which in turn implies a lack of a sense of humour or a pragmatic approach if you like.

Very good point Choon. You sure have to be a little pragmatic in this lifestyle - a good "go with the flow" attitude helps all round. Limits, preferences and boundaries are good for all but too demanding or too ridiculously specific, then they can portray uptight people which is a real no no for me.
