just read this..
it`s an expression used in USA and means all kinds of smacking and caning to give sexual thrills.
so they are saying that if you`re English you like being punished?
on the other han, swingers seem to have a much more respectful attitude towards the french, as French Culture means oral sex
Top of the Swingers` respect list, though, are the Romans.
ROman Culture` means free for all orgy.
it all sounds alot more appealing than the uptight boarding-school image that we English seem to have across the culture!

Well when you consider the amount of tax we pay they're pretty close to the truth biggrin
and there was me thinking this had something to do with a nationalistic liking for fish and chips!
As for the Romans, i think i blame Helen Mirran for that one lol
Reese says that he is unaware of this particular terminology.
I've never heard of the word "culture" being in any of the expressions used. However, the French used to refer to spanking as "la vice anglaise".
Mike.
But lets face it, there is a whole (perfectly healthy) sub culture of spanking fantasy out there and the English headmaster and strict uniform seem to be a big part of it...
Then again we get up to a lot more as well as that, and I always thought everyone thought we were the reserved lot confused:
Everybody does everything but in culture,
French are more liberal,
Italians are more vocal,
Germans like doing it... to sombody else ,
Japaneese do it quicker,
Americans just have to do it bigger and better,
well feel free to add on ....... biggrin
Before I moved to this country, my idea of the English was Benny Hill ... porky ruddy faced short squat dirty old man... ermm... what was my point again?
Be back later to conclude...

South Yorkshire culture is : flat cap : whippet : pint of ale : walk in the hills : fish and chips : yorkshire relish : or8 luv !!!
Its the Americans who really do have a thing about bottoms !
gonna bust your ass, kickin ass, I'ma gonna whip your ass , not to mention the number of "bums" on the streets !
You never hear an englishman say " I wish to break you bottom " and " bumming a fag " could create mayhem outside of the U.K !

um. yeah, us too. We both americans and we have no idea what you are talking about.
and yes, NO ONE in america says "fag" unless the are gay and are joking, or not gay and are gay bashing.
Guess I should say for international readers that the term "bumming a fag" in the UK, means asking somone for a cigarette, and a few years ago the term "Gay" was meaning happy or light it is now accepted as being homosexual ,which was once refered to in the UK as being "queer "which originally was not feeling well, or somthing odd!, I understand that in modern UK teen speak "caning" is now related to illgal drug use and not to do with punishment with a stick ( which in old English was a "rod" of wood ) not to be confused with the "Birch" that was an old form of capital punishment and very severe it could be.
"Faggot" in English has various meanings from a food delicacy to a bundle of wood used to light a fire, In Public school "fag " was the term used for an elder student's servant who was a younger or "freshman" In relation to cigarettes a freyed end of rope was referred to as the fag(ed) end and cheap cigarettes assumed the name "fags" eg its like smoking an old bit of rope ! In America this term is of course related to homosexual practice .

Surely not! Those of celtic origin are often short arses, but most Anglo Saxon types like myself are big tall and 'hrrrmph' handsome. Alright then, big and tall! lol

I'm all for english men (and women.. and scots and irish and welsh.. hell, bring on the un, the eu and then some)
but my boy is american and he is uncut too
stil have NO IDEA what specific term this post was about. and skip Benny Hill, Monty Python aaaaall the way.
I just read a fascinating book about the English imagination / culture over the centuries, and it seems that the English are most preoccupied with what's on the surface and what's behind them, along with a big streak of melancholy.
As an Englishman, I think I can safely say that spanking the surface of my behind would bring out the melancholic in me

unless i was tried to a tree and being spanked with a branch. and i know the book you are on about as well. At Uni been studying the 18 century which was a very liberal time for sexual adverture. It was when homosexuality became very popular in "dolly houses".
At the the time sodomy meant any act of sex that wasn't straight with a woman.
Quite interesting really..................

The great outdoors! Yes, that was in there too! So I wonder if dogging is seen abroad as a British thing? And bawdy humour... you know, I think Maia has a point...
