Why does one search for a swinging site/community?.
Its my experience that people generally search for and join swinging sites (even dating sites) after a major split from a long term partner. I know when i joined in 2004 it was on the last straight of a 6 year relationship (it was coming to an end). Was it because i was looking for likeminded people?, or was it just because coming out of a relationship can be tough and being with people both sexually and sociably can ease the difficulty. Or was it just that youre searching for something to fill that gap and there for making it easier. Now friends arent an issue for me, for i have plenty but i did find some kind of solice in this site. Admittedly swinging was always "my thing" but i doubt id have joined the site if i would have been in a strong, fulfilling and happy relationship.
anyway, i joined SH when i started to realise i werent happy in my, back then, relationship.

Joining reason? A change in circumstances and a looking to explore my sexual experiences in a way in which I could control. By that, I mean I could control the when/where/what/how of the experience rather than that I had previously not been in control.

In a nutshell, it was about broadening my experiences in a non-judgemental way. Originally in autumn/winter 2004, I think. Left for 18 months ish and came back.
I was at a Dogging site and a TV got laid into by a car full of rather rough females. They stole his glasses and he couldn't see to drive and called the cops. Of course, at the mention of cops, the car park emptied and he asked me to stay as a witness. I was single, wasn't doing anything wrong so didn't see the harm in staying and waiting for the cops with him. He calmly said to them before he rang off:
"One other thing, when your officers arrive, please tell them I'm dressed in ladies clothes.."
I thought it extremely brave and admirable.
They arrived and they'd already apprehended the car nearby as he'd given them the registration over the phone. They were very calm, very cool and one was quite good looking. I thought better than to offer him a bj and/or bum-rimming services there and then although he had a knowing 'glint' in his eye and his balck trousers hugged his north London-blokey arse nicely.
An-y-way... I digress
The TV asked for my number in case he needed further evidence as he was going to press charges but I gave him my address. TV's scared me then and I thought he'd share my number on ' ' or something. He emailed me to say it had been sorted and that the local Police had even posted about it on a 'web forum'.
I clicked the link he gave me and it took me into the Dogging forum here. The post is still there, 'stickied' at the top of the Dogging forum by Sgt. Steve McKee or something.
I hung about a bit, realised the calibre of blokes on here was far much more to my liking than the 'gay' internet and the rest is history. Oh and the site made be almost straight again!

i joined here as it was the only way of finding 3sums without damaging peoples lives oh yes gurly admits it when she first reliased how yummie a 3sum was she decided to latch on to her friends and hmmmmm i broke up relationships and broke a few hearts as well... so i decided in a sense i needed sumthin with NSA.... however being on here nearly three years i've made some fantastic friends with that glint of naughtiness allowed as well

I know that is "your experience" but I'd hate that to be seen as a generalisation of members here because I really don't believe it is, certainly in relation to the many couples we have met on SH.
We joined in 2004 after I found the site whilst looking up a swinging club that had featured on a documentary. We followed the forum and it was hilarious so we joined in and it went from there.
Munches were rare, gatherings were fun, the forum was a scream and the bitching and back biting, seamed at least, to be a lot less.
New posters who took the time to join in were welcomed and encouraged and that's what allowed the site to grow.
Many people join sites like these for many different reasons and most certainly not as a result of negative times in their lives.

yes i agree, evidently my experience is different to others. I definitely werent generalising (or didnt mean to). When i say "my experience" though , i dont mean just my reason.. i mean as in a lot of people ive spoke to share my view. Its no biggie though, it is what it is.
I joined because I wanted to read naughty stories - a friend recommended this site and then asked me to post a story about our own swinging experiences with him. I didn't realise at the time that you could read the literature without paying but I have maintained my subscription ever since. About 18 months ago I fell into the forum and still haven't found the exit!
We've broadened our horizons sexually, and have met a few people as a result of our membership, so I guess the investment has paid off :twisted:
