Interpersonal thinkers:
Like to think about other people, and try to understand them
Recognise differences between individuals and appreciate that different people have different perspectives
Make an effort to cultivate effective relationships with family, friends and colleagues
Like interpersonal thinkers, Leonardo had lots of friends and contacts, and was a popular figure at the Italian court. Other Interpersonal thinkers include
Winston Churchill, Mother Teresa, William Shakespeare
Careers which suit Interpersonal thinkers include
Politician, Psychologist, Nurse, Counsellor, Teacher
Im a logical / mathmatical thinker, i expected as much!
Existential thinkers:
Like to spend time thinking about philosophical issues such as "What is the meaning of life?"
Try to see beyond the 'here and now', and understand deeper meanings
consider moral and ethical implications of problems as well as practical solutions
Intrapersonal thinkers:
* Spend a lot of time thinking about and trying to understand themselves
* Reflect on their thoughts and moods, and work to improve them
* You understand how your behaviour affects your relationships with others
Like intrapersonal thinkers, Leonardo worked hard to improve all aspects of himself. Other Intrapersonal thinkers include
Sigmund Freud, Gandhi, Grahame Greene
Careers which suit Intrapersonal Thinkers include
Psychologist, Teacher, Pilot, Child care worker, Explorer, Drama therapist
Hmmm, so i'm really that sef-absorbed? I think I relate meaning making questions to my own life a lot but my interests don't just stop with my own experience...But I am studying psychology so I'm bound to have got this one!
I am apparentley an "Interpersonal Thinker"
Interpersonal thinkers:

Thats me to a tee!

I seem to be logical/mathematical (which is no great surprise!).
Apparently...
I'm Ditzy according to this...
Ditzy Thinks:
Like to think about all sorts in a random order, constantly flitting from topic to topic with no real continuation between issues. Dangerous behind a wheel, but great fun on a night out
Careers which suit Ditzy thinkers include:
Politician, Television Presenter, President of the United States
Spatial/Musical here
Rather apt, as I'm trying to work out where I left the extra-long MIDI cable I need to link this computer to that drum machine way over there the other side of the rack....
I came out as a musical thinker. Questionnaires can be easy or quite hard, depending on how they are designed. This one seemed to flow quite well and I could see where it was leading.
Well its spot on for me but my jobs not on the list, although I sometimes think I have to be all of them.
I was described as a linguistic thinker
Linguistic thinkers:
Tend to think in words, and like to use language to express complex ideas.
Are sensitive to the sounds and rhythms of words as well as their meanings.
I have to say, that appears reasonably correct to me, as I work in an enviroment that deals with a lot of words.
Thanks for that, good fun
I'm a left brain thinker.
Hi, I am Raine.
I joined today but I hope you don’t mind me contributing to this thread?
I was fascinated to read the messages in this thread and had some thoughts on the two themes of Intelligence and IQ.
Basically the modern IQ test actually derives from eugenics research carried out by the “Eugenics Society of Initially it was implemented around 1917 by the US Army where almost all of the founding members also belonged to the society.
The IQ test in itself is only capable of establishing a person’s functional personality. This is how Corporate America introduced the standard formats that are now used. After the war they appeared to have some success as they were implemented as part of the job screening process for middle managers.
This was a new tiered management level structure as seen in the IBM Corporate model. Interestingly this approach and need to screen for these white 30 something year of not too much but just above the entry mark and bellow the “senior†management level; a kind of “Middle†class manager
Unfortunately due to the evolution of technology and the rise in the oil price many of these middle managers where superseded by the IBM Server PC. It was found by upper management to be far more reliable, accurate and didn’t try to take a cut of the company pie.
So there you have it; an IQ test for what?
There isn’t an IQ test for intelligence.
This is the definition from an online dictionary
1.
a. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
b. The faculty of thought and reason.
c. Superior powers of mind.
2. An intelligent, incorporeal being, especially an angel.
3. Information; news..
4.
a. Secret information, especially about an actual or potential enemy.
b. An agency, staff, or office employed in gathering such information.
c. Espionage agents, organizations, and activities considered as a group: “Intelligence is nothing if not an institutionalized black market in perishable commodities†(John le Carré).
I have read that the mind can be though of as a networked computer.
Our inputs and our emphasis on each sense; sight, sound, touch, taste and smell.
That ordering of sensor input is the standard average.
Additionally and this is in contention the “Network†link/ intuition.
What type of minds do we have? Quite diverse and varied?
For example if you are 400 feet on top of a sky scrapper and also you have to do is walk 9 feet down a 6 inch girder, exposed to the elements.
By definition 1a the “uneducated†Navaho Indian has anyone here beaten hands down. They or at least they had no fear of heights as they lived on the plains and basically it just didn’t “compute†for them. They made excellent construction workers that were paid premiums to work at the high altitudes. Excellent rates for an American Indian.
The discussions on the classification of mind state got me wondering about my own. At first I thought about the Logical-Mathematical thinker, that’s defiantly me. I have a heavy, science, engineering, mathematics and computing back ground.
And then I considered the Interpersonal thinker and I also see strong aspects of these characteristics in myself. I very much like to listen, especially to women. It’s much like a cross word game, all the clues are they you just have to know where the correct word fits, bang it in and watch the score board climb the wall if you get what I mean.
My mind has just wondered of point so I bid you all good night and hopefully I’ll bump into some of you if not online then in person?
Raine
BTW On that last point; I think I am a Logical-Interpersonal.
(PS I know it’s long but I just could help myself – I just came for a quick dirty chat and some hand relief)
