I have been using the forums for a while now and mostly pop in every day to see what the lasting threads, posts are, sometimes just flick through have a read and out again.
Other days something captures me it could be a good fun quick banter kind of day, where I feel all are having a giggle and a laugh, the responses are quick and random so you feel like sticking around for the laugh.
Other days there is a sense of coming together a feeling of people offering help, or just a nice calm feeling about the forums.
On other days there is a changed atmosphere where tempers seem raging and insults flying, it always seems on these days the number of people at the top of the page increase, there is a sense of people wanting to read what is going to happen, who’s going to say what next.
What threads do you enjoy following what makes you stick around longer?

What makes a hot thread and one to stick about to watch?
Have to admit that like Flower its the posters I watch for not necessarily the post.
If someone can make a logical argument or case for something I'm interested in seeing the outcome, the other side of the coin from others I guess, whether I agree or not.
Tonight I'm logged on far longer than I normally would be simply to keep updated on one particular thread, but fancy that its long gone now so time to go tart myself up for a Friday night.
(oh and in edit i wasnt hanging around waiting for the bloodshed, more a case of was a question going to be answered, i was right in my assumption that it wasnt)

I watch for posters as opposed to thread titles mostly too... and avoid Current Affairs like the plague as I'm rubbish with that kinda stuff and fairly ignorant I guess when it comes to some stuff 
In more controversial threads, I like posters who can debate logically and justify themselves maturely rather than just descend into 'because I say so' kinda tactics when people disagree with them. That always wins my respect, even if I don't agree with their point of view.

Do other folk go through the forum confidence thing or is it just another of my weird foibles? (No, this isn't a 'love me! love me!' thread, I do just wonder whether people feel their motives are questioned at every turn, or whether that's just me being paranoid)
My favourite threads are the funny ones. Silk and Big G's "Swinging on a Budget" thread should be stickied as an example of how to have a good time on here. I cried laughing at some of the posts on there. I also love it when banter gets going, perhaps on a thread that was heading into choppy waters and some sensible folk steer it back to common sense through their good humour and impeccable wordsmithery (that is a word, I just made it up). I find that heartening and it gladdens my tired spirit. It seems conflict is more popular sometimes sadly, which worries me because I didn't really come here for that and I think in such circumstances, the abject toss I tend to post is very much out of place. I still do it anyway from time to time, but I worry that it has quickly grown tiresome.

The forum paranoia is something we all go through at some stage, I didn’t know what paranoia meant until I entered the forums, but you get over it, get on with it and think bugger it. It is my mind playing tricks and don’t worry about it. I could be right in the paranoia I felt but Res someone will always try and knock you down, if you let them do, clear your mind of such thoughts and you will be cured. So keep on posting and believe in yourself.
