I tend to look at who's written it - if its a mod or a reg i find myself more likely to read it because i know that person well enough to know what sort of thread it might be. Sometimes a title might grab me as well, but more often than not its the author that interests me. So.... what makes you look at a thread??
No - I never go to multi pagers, like the GFZ either. Nor do I ever look at stickies. On all the forums I use, I scroll thru the stickies till I find the 'real' things.
Always the title, and since time is usually a premium, if it's not clear what it's about I generally don't go there. Also, if I see a thread is already three pages or more long and I wasn't in at the start I don't go there, too much reading, unless it's a REALLY interesting topic where I want to have a say like, "Why is Musketeer such a grumpy old fart?"
I am more likely to read a thread if the title grabs me, but I do always look at the originator and the last contributor too. If either of those is someone I recognise and someone whose posts I particularly enjoy, then I am much more likely to read it.

the only thread i avoid are the ones that are on page 4 or 5 by the time ive got to it. i'm too lazy to read all of it. and nowing my lukc i'd post a reply from something of the first page. and someone has already beaten me to the sarcastic remark.
normally i go for threads where i know the author is funny. EG: Well busty babe, Debbiewebs and Sgt Bilko. oh and of course my own threads just to see what person has been taking the piss out of me!

I only ever look at my own threads, because I`m far more important than anyone! In fact I didn`t even bother looking at this one because it didn`t cite me as the author.

A thread title that's literately set out and punctuated (like this one) written by a name I recognise which also fills the same criteria. I'm such a snob. But as far as I'm concerned, the over-use of text speak is something I can do without. I don't want to spend three minutes of my life wading through a sea of abbreviations for an end result that might not interest me.
It depends how bored I am. I am fairly eclectic in the threads I read, but tend to ignore the standard hello and congratulations threads. I don't like textspeak, or long posts that aren't paragraphed ... too difficult to read. Bad spelling doesn't bother me but bad punctuation can make posts unreadable.
Maybe more important is which threads do you contribute too?
I do not post prolifically and tend to post in threads where I can offer an opinion or advice from my own experience, or make a light-hearted comment if I am quick enough to do it before someone else.
I look at most threads although will open one that is by a name I recognise first. After opening I will read the first post and then skim through a few to see if the thread is taking a route that allows my style of posting to take part, if it's a thread that I want to get into then I will read the posts more carefully to try and make sure that I do not replicate anyone else before posting.
The thread title has little significance for me as I will look at them all eventually. Welcomes, congratulations and the like come last on the viewing list.
We read it if the title has caught our eye.
