So a weekend at Blackpool Pontins with an afternoon on the Pleasure Beach and an evening visit to Funny Girls would be worth looking into?
Steve

I'd definitely be up for that one Steve.

Murder Mystery Weekend

Now that is a gr8 idea
Too tempting for me lol. I have an idea that actual murder is frowned upon, even at these events ;) I'll double check the rules if this is suggested for real though :lol2:
Steve,
The Ribby Hall thing Alex mentions could be a good idea, I don’t live to far from there, it is small compared to a Butlins or Pontins, but has a lot of stuff to do / eating places / entertainment / swimming pool etc.... and has a whole range of accommodation types and styles.... is also close (5 miles) to Blackpool.
Click here to have a look ....
Alex..... why can't you make it???
Loke the idea of a range of accomodation. We are not all pontins types!!!
not being snobby just prefer something a bit classier!

Would have to agree here, and Clare concurs.
For those that want to have a look........ this is a very good site, will give you loads of information about the place Alex and myself mentioned.

I just thought of another one: Weekend at Center Parcs. The one in Sherwood is about the most accessible for the majority. Cheap if you go in a big group and loads of stuff to do.

Center parcs is amazing we love it there, but the weekend breaks are a hell of a lot more expensive than the midweek breaks.
Also all of the activities are an extra cost,so as much as we'd like that you'd definately have to count us out if that one as it would cost way too much!!!!
Well if I was booking my annual holiday I probably wouldn't be looking at Pontins, but I think for a weekend with a load of mates it's an ideal base. Cheap and cheerful, and the layout is ideal for room hopping ;)
I suppose those of us that were "slumming it" could always meet up with the posh lot at the pleasure beach and the pubs/clubs anyway.
It's true what they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time, but at least in and around Blackpool there's enough choice to suit every taste
Ok I'll admit I didn't read the whole thread, not yet. I will go back and read it all, I promise I really do, but in the meantime, can we come wherever you're going??????????????
biggrin :D :D :D :D :D
I think you should get the most popular ideas and run a poll!!!
 Ribby Hall would be a great place but booking it might be fun! - it's v popular. We like medievel banquet idea also.

Would have to agree with foxy on that one!
So how do we take this further then Steve? Is it something you can sticky it in lets meet up?

I quite like the idea of the medieval banquet myself and there's a bit of interest there so I'm gonna look into it tomorrow to get an idea of locations, prices etc. Somewhere in the Midlands is probably accessible to most but it depends what I can find. If there's a big enough response and the price is right we could hopefully book a private party.
The Blackpool weekend would need looking into properly. I've no idea what a "Pontins type" is because I've never stayed there. I just know that Blackpool has one and it seemed like a reasonable place to start. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to stay somewhere a little more up market but to make the weekend as accessible as possible to everybody I'd be looking at the cheaper option. I think Angel Chat summed it up quite well:

Just to let you all know the Pontins in Blackppol only does half board ( brekkie n tea ) dont know if this would bother any of you though....does mean its a little more expensive than the others.
Now if it was a weekend in Spain id be able to help you lot out. This is part of my job smile
Medieval Banquet is definitely my fave, I've always wanted to go to one!
Oh and if you need any help at all Steve, let me know ok biggrin
If it's a medieval ball - I wanna be Blackadder - no Baldrick - no shit - Richard II (no bollocks he died with a red hot poker up his arse) ummmm I got it I'm gonna be Henry IV part 2.
I'm so excited now. The possibility of something that i might actually be able to go to! :bounce:
The Blackpool idea sounds absolutely fantastic to me,and i could help arrange accommodation and things! And funny girls is a great night out! lol
But whatever it is i hope i can make it. I'm dying to meet everybody
Some good ideas there SteveG cool
My faves are Blackpool or Canal Street. I had a weekend in Blackpool with some friends when I was a student and it was a fantastic laugh. There is some very cheap but reasonably priced accomodation there. The Pleasure Beach is very expensive though - it is now £6 to go on the big one! I used to go to Flamingoes regularly, until it got filled with straight tourists (ooops, that's what most of you would be if you landed on Blackpool's doorstep one day redface ). I haven't been to Canal Street in a good while though rolleyes
Not sure about the Banquet idea, cos I'm not one for costume dressing  wink
If the date was right, I'd go with the majority, but we always have a problem with babysitters on a weekend, so it might not be possible anyway - even struggling to get one for the NW munch - haven't even thought about a sitter for the SMB yet
I'd love the Blackpool Pontins idea.....I looked into organising that myself but I realised that they don't do single people's chalet's so it would mean booking a whole group of chalets and then people sharing....that could be difficult to organise....but sounds like a great idea.....
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of a Medieval Banquet although only god knows what I'd wear.....but it sounds fabulous....pllllllleeeeeeeeassssssse don't make it in October because we already have the NE Munch, the Anne Summers Party and the Notts Munch and I can't fit anything else in....LoL.....

Count me in on helping out as well Steve, I live about 5 miles from Blackpool and can do whatever is needed. biggrin
smile
Oh and another thing .............. Steve, can you make it a long way off!! Gonna have real babysitter problems if it's too soon sad
I say about February/March time, tis crappy then, feels like winter is really dragging itself out, so would be something to look forward to! biggrin
Off Topic, but I feel strangley attracted to Misschief..... wink biggrin
my two fave ideas are the medieval banquet or the murder mystery weekend...... i love the ide of dressingh up and playing games lol
A Cafe social meet is a great idea, like the Alton Towers one (Well I would, I have season tickets) but here are a couple of other ideas for the mix:
Rocky Horror Show night (Find somewhere it is on and take out the whole of the stalls area if there enough of us)
Paint-balling (Just good old dirty fun, but not cheap..)
Personally I to would shy away from a whole weekend thing as I also have kids. Still there is always the Big shindig Saturday night with option to stay on for more on Sunday for those that can. Another idea (maybe not winter thing) would be a camping trip, if you got some basic stuff it can be quite fun...
Or we could look at hiring a youth hostel exclusive, then visiting some local attractions, or just the pubs smile
Warwick Castle does the full medieval banquet. We used to organise trips there for Christmas dinner and all hire the outfits. It is fabulous fun. They do a thing every Friday and Saturday night and From what I can remember it was only about a head. You can book it as a private function as well. Those that wanted to stop over could book into one of the local hotels.
I need to go back anyway - I have a mead jug and cup I wandered off with whilst drunk the last time I was there! surprisedoops:
Personally I have never been to a Butlins holiday camp in my life but am sure that letting our hair down and getting into the "swing" of things could make it a really fun weekend. Let's face it - after what they normally see, (whenever I have seen documentaries on the place), they would hardly be shocked by the antics of a load of swingers and are therefore less likely to object or throw you out ! dunno :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
Fred
The Warwick castle idea is brilliant, although ive never been to a function there it is such a glorious setting!!
The problem with any holiday camp is its going to be full of kids and isnt that what most of us want to get away from?
FFS Warwick castle
I just bloody well mooved...where I used to live I was two minutes away confused
Having said that I concur with Fred its a really good night out
Other one to consider is Coombe Abbey (near Coventry)
They do a similar thing and thats pretty good too

Well....... I think a medieval banquet would be fab! better still what about a Viking Banquet..... all that and pillage!!! lol

I can teach you some Danish if you like frogster!
Bacon.... pastries.... lurpack....!
How about something in fancydress, haven't been to one of those for a while. All of it sounds good fun! Great idea Steve!
ok.....I've done a little bit of digging and have made a post about the medieval banquet in 'Let's Meet Up'. It's nothing definite, more of a who's interested kind of thing.
I'll look into the Blackpool weekend later, unless of course someone else wants to run with it?
Steve
