My partner regularly attends the fetish night held once a month at the Blowing Wild Club in Preston (the event itself is called Consent). It is attended by a few serious fetishists, TVs and goths... friendly enough bunch though a little tame for my liking as it is not a swingers event
Anyways, he went on Saturday and was approached by some people claiming to be making a telly programme about "alternative lifestyles" and they were looking for people who lead such lifestyles to appear in the audience. The programme was to be hosted by a "TV Chef" (TV is in tranny, not television confused ), and the people making this programme were called Pure TV. Now, I've never heard of Pure TV, I've hundreds of Sky channels and don't have this one, and I'd never heard of a "TV Chef" (who's name now escapes me rolleyes )... so.... what are we to make of this? The phone number to ring is a local Preston number (is there a TV company in Preston?)
I think this is decidely dodgy - maybe others have been contacted with a similar story? It's certainly something to think about - are these people cranks or journos, or what?
If anyone wants info on the Consent event I'll give you their details

Looks like they're genuine, blue. Up to you whether you want to take advantage of it though.
Thanks for that, Mr. W. lol SH never fails to amaze me, there's always someone in the know! At least I can tell the peeps at Consent that they're not being targetted by cranks and that Pure TV is a real company. Mind you The Sun is real as well, isn't it confused
However, what they probably failed to tell you is that they are probably making the programme on spec and will then try and sell it once it is made. If it had been commissioned they would have shouted the name of the commissioning company. It could just be destined to join the dusty archive of programmes that never got transmitted!
If it was commissioned then they would have a clearly defined aims and objectives as well as the angle and storyline they are going to use - and will have to stick to it. Non commissioned and they will film everything - edit to make the most juicy programme and sensationalise everything and it will be so skewed that any integrity and truth will be lost!
Fred
I don't think anyone at the club took them seriously anyway. I think they should have been kicked out by the club staff, but hey ho, what do I know confused
I feel Fred has hit the nail on the head. Seems odd that there is only one phone no - for phone and fax. must be a very small set up. I drove past there today, I wish I had seen the thread earlier, I would have checked the place out.
I also feel that they should have had the club's permission to be there and then that the club should have made each person aware on entry.
i dont like journalists
i just really dont like them

Agreed; there are 1296 production companies listed on the website where this lot's details were found...
I have to ask though, does anyone expect TV to be able to do a sensible TV show on a subject like this?
A friend who is a very pretty TV appeared on jerry springer a few years ago; the whole premise of the show was 'My dad doesn;t know I'm a TV'
Since both dad and son worked in the same office as me, and the son / TV used to get his best Carmen Miranda outfit out for charity days, office parties and any other excuse possible the show should have been a non starter. After a few exes / drinking tokens had changed hands the show had all the reaction shots it needed nicely faked, and a baying audience of mad grannies and the like howling disapproval and approbation...
I agree with the others the makers always wish to put a slant on these programmes and I guess that would probably be either demonisation or all if a programme is unbiased and fair, who is going to watch it? Editing is the new Rock'n'Roll mad
