the story goes like this:
on friday a close friend of mine who runs a pub was attacked by a customer.
she has cuts and bruises, but above all she has had to move from her pub as she is receiving death threats to her and her children from him and his mates. the police moved her out of her pub for their safety until they catch him
so what wud u do, she is in 2 minds to drop the charges, or stand against these bullies? she knows what is right from wrong and is a very strong person, but worrys about the effects that might come her childrens way
chesty

god i feel for her.
You just hope that the police catch these people and that the courts hand down a tough sentence.
i voted for standing against the bullies.
I think as a publican she has a duty to stand up to them & sent the message that her pub wont be a haven for violent behaviour.
i have voted to stand up against the bullies
and as a licence holder myself i feel it is my duty to do the right thing or she will be running scared every time the door opens.
i understand she is scared for the children perhaps if they could go to a relative for a little while till things settle down might be an idea
i voted Stand against the bullies, but who knows put any of us in the situation and we would proberly put our children before others to, its a tough one, but what ever she does i hope she makes the right choice for her and her children.
I have voted stand up against the bullies. I can only imagine how scary it must be for her and her family but standing up for yourself is the only way forward.
Any reason why she was attacked? What's the story?
if its like most stories in a pub its drink related and probs asked to leave when they didnt want to go (usualy for a variety of reasons)......... only my experience
I've voted to stand up to bullies. It has to be each person's own decision though. Especially where kids are involved.
BUT, even if the charges were dropped, would it stop the problem? Bullies are cowards, giving in to them at school never stopped me getting attacked. Hitting them over the head with a bag of library books did the trick.
Of course, the official route is best, can the kids go to Gran's for a while?
I also voted to stand up to them.
In my hobby I get a lot of would be bullies joining and thinking that they can bully more people at the classes and also in real life once they learn some of the skills I teach.
Most of the time they leave within a few days cos I end up bringing them down to my size(which isn't that big) and not only by showing them the error of their ways ,shall we say, but also by making them look like fools in other ways.
But it's easy to be judgmental in the the situation that this post is about to say "yeah stand up to them" but if it was on your doorstep it might be a different matter.
i vote to stand up to the bullies !!!
been there done that got the t shirt chesty ive been in the same situation about 9 yrs ago with a pub i had in colchester the local thug (aka idiot they werent brave enough to call him that to his face )he decided the friday in question was his night to start a fight with the bar staff and was throwen out by the doormen ohhh dont get me wrong he went only to arrive back at 3 in the morning with a present ie a brick straight threw the window i was on my own at the time with 3 young kids while he was hurling abuse outside and all the plant pots .
as usual the police were called and he was lifted i pressed charges against him until after the court case where he received a £150 fine and community service of 30 hrs of it was cleaning my beer garden to say i enjoyed every minute of him picking up all the shit that had collected there (especially the stuff i keep throwing all all over garden and bless even our dog helped out lol)mind u i do admit that i had a trusty freind MR BASEBALL BAT which i would have used if he had even thught about stepping out of line sumtimes its not easy to stand up to bullies but in this line of work u will meet them on a regular basis especially when the demon drink is involved ,this is this ladies home and her childrens death threats are usually made in vain yes there is alot of idiots in pubs but the good usually rule out the numptys dont let this man ruin ur liveyhood and ur good name push the police to install panic buttons and if need be make them do a pass by every hour as a publican u have that right if u are under threat of any sort and if they dont comply with this take it to the cheif of police and papers to be honest be a right pain in the arse they will get bored with u ringing the station and just start doing it to stop u ringing lol worked in my case  dont let this man ruin all uve worked for !!! good luck and stay strong xxxxxx
in an ideal world we should stand up to them but i wouldnt .... from my experience the police are crap at protecting people and i wouldnt put my kids in danger
There is only one responsible action, prosecute.
For evil to thrive the good must do nothing.

The fact that she was assaulted as a publican will mean that this drunken thug will be given a custodial sentence. In the mean time if she still feels insecure about the whole thing she could ask her brewery to move her and her family to another pub. I know it is not an ideal solution but it will put her kids in a safe place. My regards to her and chin up
