..........
, what he said was:
If I'm given too much change I always ask is the change correct, the minions on the tills have to make up any shortages, if they say it is I walk; however if I'm shortchanged.....

That, to me, reads like he gives them the chance to correct their mistake if they give him too much change, because he knows they'd have to make up the shortfall in their till. If they still miss it, then it's their fault and as he's questioned it, they only have themselves to blame. So you are on the till, you hand over to much. I would say," I think you gave me to much."
If I said "Is that right."
You say "Yes"
Have you been done right by?
Do unto others as you would be done by.
Travis.

rolleyes Agree with that sentiment but I think you missed the point. If they say that the customer has the right change, what else can you do?

Call at 'Customer Services' on the way out and get double the difference back.
...or just except that I made a mistake and leave, I have done my best.
If that is what was meant originally, by hairry1, then I extend apologies.

So you'd take double the amount of money from them?
Or you'd do what the other person said - take the word of the person on the till that you'd made a mistake, and leave.

Yes! but I would do it honestly.

And how would querying the amount of change given, be dishonest?

Last post on this thread.
If I say I think it is wrong and why. It is honest.
If I say is that right, just for forms sake, hoping they will defend their position. It is dis-honest.

Whether it's for forms' sake or not, the question has still been asked - so it's no more dishonest than accepting double from customer services. I'll cop out and not come back to the thread either, hmm?
