Hi everyone,
There is a house a few streets away from where we live that already has the christmas tree and decorations up.............a tad early me thinks!!! dunno
We put ours up on 21st December as that's our anniversary :inlove:
Actually a very special anniversary this years as it will be 16 years together and 1 year married.
We just have the tree and a few lights in the bay window, maybe some tinsel round the fireplace and pictures, don't go overboard with them all. Then normally take them down between christmas and NY.
So was just curious as to when you put up you decorations and how long you have them up for??
M xx drinkies
Depends how much of the children nagging I can put up with dunno I'm hoping that this year we can get into the second week of December before I relent. lol Mine usually get put away on 2nd Jan although I think I'm working that day so probably the day after boxing day this year

bah humbug

You are so getting a mini christmas tree from me this year young man... bah humbug indeed rolleyes
Mine have to go up 12 days before and come down 12 days after. It's something my late Dad was very strict about and as it was his favourite time of the year, everything had to be done just so ( though I usually cheat and take them down just after New Year as I'm sick of the sight of them by then :giggle: )
I love my tree :inlove: and I'm the only one who can decorate it. I used to buy the kids a little one for them to do themselves as no one os allowed to do the tree but me :smile2:
It's decorated way OTT complete with angel on the top but then I just have a few garlands and bits around the room besides that. I do love my rocking angel I bought in B&Q a couple of years ago and my Santa and snowmen dolls. :giggle:
Every year we have more and more people that decorate the outside of their houses. Personally I wouldn't but a lot do it for charity and they are amazing to see

yes dear, whatever....
I put 'em up when I can be bothered.. and I can't wait for my son to leave home so that I don't have to anymore.
He is thankfully going to his dads' this year and next.. so I can have likeminded friends round to veg on the sofa and enjoy time off work.
can't be doing with the materialism and the totally unnecessary shallowness of it all.
I give presents, send letters and little gifts all year to my friends... I won't be getting into debt or worry about one day.

if queer street aint in my sat nav, im gonna cry
if chilli has her way its sumtime in the next few days
if laff has his way its the day the kids break up from school
but this year we r having new windows doors etc fitted in december so it'll b a few days after we have cleaned up the mess
As a kid we always used to put the decorations up on my birthday (10th) but the kids get that excited so they normally go up a little earlier much to Steve's disgust :giggle:
They normally come down on the 6th Jan and it always looks so bare when they have all gone sad
Someone by us has had their decorations up for over a week :eeek: Now thats too early rolleyes
put mine up on the 9th as its the day after my birthday and it wouldnt feel as special with a tree and birhtday cards,,,,,,,
need to get a new one this year as well due to very drunk incident which involved broken tree and sore nackers,,,

I think you need to share that story :giggle:
Mind you someone in the next street has the outside of his house decorated all year. He only put the lights on round christmas, but he has so much, santa's and various festive nik naks, it would prob take him all year to take them down.
But it does look good when all lit up.

i came home from a night on the town (well cannock if you can call it a town) with a few mates and while trying to get to the sofa i went head over tit through the tree,
that wasnt the problem, the problem was that it snapped about 2 thirds of the way down and just caught my ball bag, which was totally funny to my friends and me at the time but not so funny when i woke up feeling like id been kicked by a donkey...
anyway having mini 23cm high plastic tree this year!

Congratulations and happy anniversary tonmar kiss
My decorations go up 12 days before and come down a maximum of 12 days after. Hate Xmas and the greed, selfishness and arguments that go with it.
I try my best for the kids but if I could get away with it, Xmas would not be celebrated. I much prefer to treat my kids to things they want when they deserve it or the mood comes over me. Not because a holiday dictates it.
Dont get me started!
I hate the "expectation" that goes hand in hand with xmas these days- and grows worse and worse by the year. The children get pressies, and Mr w gets a little something but as for "aunty Flo" who you don't see from one xmas to the next- does she gat a £40 foot spa from a leading high street pharmacist? Does she fluck!
I love the excuse to spend more time with people you genuinely want to be with though.
One of our best xmas' ever was when the oven died at 6pm on xmas eve- I had to microwave a joint and cook some veggies on the hob. Result? Me spending shedloads more time with the kids, no stress, no "OMG ive eaten waaaaay too much!"
That was the catalyst that led to us now trying to spend every other xmas in our "home from home"- a cosy rented apartment in the French Alps. We give our 4 kids about a third of the money they would usually get- just getting them some small token gifts, the saving almost pays for the apartment. We replace the presents with the gifts of time, laughter, and knee deep snow............Bliss! biggrin
Err....what was the question? oh yeah- about the start of the 2nd week in december!

Sounds like Heaven..........!!!
 drinkies
When my children were little I used to put the decorations up on the 12th December.
Now, we don't bother with any at all.
We gave up the tree two years ago when our four feline fiends had it over five times in less than an hour biggrin
I usually put the tree up about 2 weeks before Christmas but it alwayscomes down on Hogmanay. I just can not stand having a tree up when I've started a brand new year. Its wrong!!!
Anyway, its far too early to be talking about Christmas confused It should be banned till at least December and preferrably I would be away in a quiet mountainside chalet with a real fire and a hottub for the whole of the festive season or somewhere warm abroad biggrin

they go up in the middle of december,it's usually around then when i get sick of her nagging for me to put them up......they come down as soon after xmas, when the mrs is out long enough for me to get them all down ,boxed away and put where most women fear to tread.......................... the attic :smug: :smug: :smug: bolt

Mrs Kiss and I have two weeks off over Xmas so we will put the decorations up on our first day off together.
