When signing off....

... what do you say? I mean in an email, text, letter, PM etc etc.
Not sure why I thought of this but some people always give xx's to those they may not know. Not criticism by the way.... it's just I prefer to give xx's to people I know....not sure why and not sure why it matters either for that matter.
Mine usually go something like this:
If I don't know the person I usually put a smile smile

or

If I know the person only very slightly I'll say "Take care" or something along those lines...with a smile :) or :D
If I know the person better than that they'll get some xx's and a smile :) or :D
This isn't a set rule though - it depends what mood I'm in at the time.
This is probably a completely pointless thread, but we've all got to have one sooner or later lol

Really though, I'm just intrigued as to whether anyone else goes along the same lines as me, or if it is just me!

God, I think could reveal character traits!!.
In PMs I always make mine proportionate (if I have the time). Too many variations to go into here but they range from Regards, when I am really uncertain about the recipient followed by my username to XXXXXXXX passionkiss

and a few other little epithets to people I know 'a bit better'!
I always kiss XXXX women (why pass up any opportunity) and I never kiss the men intentionally - but I have found me finger hovering over the X button out of sheer habit before realising on occasions - so if any of the guys did get a smacker from me - s'OK I didn't mean it.

Having just checked some out-going Pms just to make sure it would also appear to be pretty random signing-off, but something along the lines of 'take care' or 'see you later/there', and if its addressed to a fem there will be a few xxxxxx's as well, and perhaps a couple of smileys as well.
As for the name I use, some have my nick on, some my real name and some both........although there doesn't seem to be any particular pattern as to which PM's get which........totally random lol

Good question OnlyMe, I seem to rely on "regards" or "best regards" for less informal emails, though I'm never completely happy with it. In PMs I tend not to sign off with anything, just my name. I'm not fond of "take care" and never use it myself, though I know people mean well.

At work people, especially the poor girl I work with quite a lot, has had a barrage of kisses from me redface

I just know that one day soon she's also gonna get a 'Regards Moderator' at the bottom of her mail :shock: confused

She already thinks I'm weird enough as it is :undecided: But it's only a matter of time before she ends up with a 'mods' email :uhoh:

Regards for emails to a 'Mr or Mrs. ???

Anything formal then it's my username or full name for emails.
To someone I know, they's probably get something like "Take it easy" and then either my username or the initial of my first name.
Someone female I know well will get "Hugs 'n' snogs" the initial of my first name and a :kiss:

If it's a pm from someone on here... and they seem ok/safe , then i'll sign off with xxxxxx the postie (and no, before someone says it, my name isn't xxxxxx !!! rolleyes

If it's a fella, that's all they'll get, if it's a female i tend to put a x or maybe even splash out on more than one x (after all they are rationed, aren't they???)
As for the sign off line... it's nearly always nothing, but occasionally i'll say catch you later... or see you around, or all the best...

I am quite liberal with my kisses........but thats the way i am in real life, an affectionate, touchy feely person and this carries on in my emails I guess!
Of course with the exception of the Pms I get saying "give me your MSN addy" or really rude ones that just Piss you off! They get sod all at the end of the PM! lol
